About EVGA Power Supply

Hello! I am planning to purchase a new Power Supply for my PC and willing to buy/pick one (650W) from EVGA G3 series. Just to make sure, is it a good obvious choice regarding it's quality and performance? I wanted a minimum of 'Gold' efficiency when it comes to the PSUs. I have also seen 'EVGA P2' series having quite similar prices, I mean 650W. And also, as if it is Gold or Platinum certified, will a 650W (Gold/Platinum) can sufficiently handle SLI if I may plan in future like GTX 1070?

The Good:

• amazing voltage regulation
• better than excellent ripple control
• smooth power on transient behavior
• fully modular
• lots of connectors
• semi-fanless mode can be disabled

The Bad:

• HAHAHAHA!

• extremely minor nitpick - let's do away with the in cable capacitors now, yes?

Yes, but a single card solution is the way to go (ie, selling the 1070 and buying a faster single card if ever needed). There are a lot of issues with games and multi-card setups). You can read through the video card section where a lot of owners talk about their various issues with performance.

You can't make a bad decision! So you have a great 750 G3, a great 650 P2, and a probably great 650 G3. If you are not in a hurry you can wait for a sale.

The P2 650/750 has a 10 year warranty (with registration, I think) and a 140mm fan. The 650W G3 has a 7 year warranty while the 750W G3 is 10 year, both with a 130mm fan.

I bought my P2 20 days ago and had no idea that I wouldn't get the full 10 years warranty without a registration within 30 days of purchase!
