I keep leaning toward the Samsung's because seem to have overall good reviews. And the ZERO dead pixel policy.
-So Samsung makes their OWN LCD screens.?. Yes/no?

-LG Phillips is in APPLE's and LG Phillips.?

-What does Dell use? What are those screens also in?

Ive been appointed to make the purchasing decison new montiors for small office. Price point is @or below ~300. No games.
My choices are now Sony, Viewsonic, LG Phillips, or Samsung series 17' inch.
By brand name only... Which do you think is best?? Any good links would be nice too.

I'd like to thank you guys for your input before hand.

Samsung's zero dead pixel policy is like valid in Korea only I believe?

I heard Dell's 1905FP uses the same panel as the Samsung 915? or was it the 930. Don't remember

What's your purpose in going LCD? Gaming? Text/Office? What do you hope to do....

Samsung makes their own I think.

Don't know

Dell uses Planar.

Samsung LCDs are very good. Viewsonic is not good at all- always dead pixels and bad image quality. I prefer BenQ over all your choices, but they are pretty expensive.

Samsung makes their own panels, as does LG. Dell uses a variety of panels, but their two most popular screens are made by Samsung and LG: the 2005fpw is an LG screen and the 2405fpw is a Samsung screen.

Samsung does not have a zero dead pixel policy, I don't think. Check their USA website.

IMO Samsung makes some of the best LCD's. I've owned four myself: a 191T (beautiful screen, horrible ghosting due to 25ms (black to white) response time and (I kid you not) ~100ms grey-grey response time... this was before grey-grey became important), a 173V (analog 25ms panel, very little ghosting, nice looking screen), 710T (12ms digital, zero ghosting, beautiful panel; had 1 dead pixel in a corner somewhere) and a 730B (8ms screen, gorgeous display, absolutely zero ghosting, very nice colours).

I currently am running a Dell 2005fpw next to a 710T and I absolutely love the combination .

Re: dead pixels. IMO they're overrated. As long as it's not in the center of the screen or a terribly annoying combination (like a red pixel on white background), it's very hard to spot. Right now, my 2005fpw has two dead/stuck pixels (one green and one red in the top left and bottom right corners, respectively) that only show up on black backgrounds. I cannot notice them unless I take about 2 minutes to hunt them down!

Major panel manufacturers: Samsung, AU Optronics, LG Philips, Chi Mei Optoelectronics
Major panel types: TN+Film, S-PVA, S-IPS

If you have a model you want to look up, punch it in here and it should tell you the panel. Note the panel CAN vary, and has on the Dell 2001FP. I've heard it using Samsung, AUO, AND LG panels. However most monitors stick to one panel.

I also own a Samsung 710T.

i would have to go with the SAMSUNG 913V-Black 19" 12ms LCD Monitor from newegg.com, it costs $289.99 before mail in rebate and after rebate its $269.99. if u can go just over $300 then i recomend SAMSUNG 915N-Black 19" 8ms LCD Monitor for 335.99 before mail in rebate but after rebate its 295.99.

Samsung's zero dead pixel policy is only in Korea. The closest thing you'll get to zero dead pixel policy is Dell's full satisfaction return policy.

Samsung makes their own panels.

I believe Dell uses Samsung.

Samsung's much-publicized zero pixel defect thing is only in South Korea. Where competition is fierce because the world's biggest two LCD manufacturers (Samsung and LG.Philips) are based in South Korea.

Actually, I lied. Samsung also has a zero pixel defect policy in Taiwan I believe. Where the next two biggest LCD manufacturers (AU Optronics and Chi Mei Optoelectronics) are based.

In America, Samsung's official dead pixel policy is 10 or more (for 17" and 19") needed for replacement. I sure hope their customer service takes over before then.

Samsung's U.S. pixel defect policy:

The zero-pixel policy applies to Sweden and Denmark too and it works without problems if you receive a "defect" monitor. It's very nice indedd
