about leaving the computer on all day

oh hey hi.

so well, i've never quite thought about it that much before, but is it bad to leave my computer on for like 3-4 days?
more precisely, what does my video card thinks about that?
i have a geforce 8800gts so i'm a bit concerned about its well being. if the computer is on (seeding and leeching, not on sleep or whatever), if there is no game on or anything demanding, is my video card in demand?

well i may be a bit unclear, but in résumé : if i leave my computer open for two weeks, could something overheat or stop working?

I have been in the habit of leaving my rigs on all of the time for years.

Other than the occasional fan replacement, I always seem to have upgraded everything before I have a problem.

depends on the surge protector/UPS you have. making sure the proper power saving options are used for the pc and monitor.

Will the power saving for the monitor also stop power consumption by the video card? A lot of video cards use ridiculous amounts of power even when drawing just an empty desktop.

I plan to use a Radeon HD3850, since they seem to idle at much lower power consumption than most other videocards, but if I can cut even the remaining power consumption, that'd be great.

you can adjust both the monitor and video card power saving settings.

No harm will come to your hardware by just leaving it on. I have been leaving my PCs powered on for the past 12 years and have not had single hardware failure due to it. The only thing you may notice is a slightly higher power bill.
