Hello Everyone, i just remembered, its been almost a month since my laptop has been not working, my laptop was working fine before and after re-installing for two days, thats when the issue happened, when i turn on the laptop, it powers up halfway, but the message that says *Microsoft Coarporation* doesn't load up, it goes completely black after the power is loading. What could be the cause of this? Any suggestions? I've tried re-installing and turning on and off my laptop, but nothing works, I am using a different laptop instead for now untill my one works.I've been using it for three years, laptop company is Dell XPS M1530, my warranty/insurance has expired, so i can no longer ask the Dell service for help as they would charge me. So the screen goes blank after the screen turns on for a while and does not load all the way

I am not sure I understand exactly what happened. You say it worked fine after re-installing, then that the issue occurred after re-installing? Do you mean that you reinstalled and it worked for a while and then quit working? In any case, my first guess would be that the hard drive is failing and cant find the proper files to continue loading. Could be any number of things though, power supply, ram, a dvd drive that is not working. In any case, the computer help forum might be a better place for this post, and it would also be helpful to give more details about your laptop, such as cpu, ram, OS, graphics card if it has one, how old it is, etc.

i would go with the hard drive first, could be a bad sector on it and it stops when it tries to load a file that is there and is corrupted. have you tried to boot to a linux live CD?

Good idea to boot from a Linux disk. I used that method to operate my computer for a couple of days when the hard drive went out, but forgot to mention it to the op.

No i don't have the Linux Cd

You can download many versions of Linux (legitimately) from the internet for free. You then need to burn the file to a CD with a program like image burn (also free). When you boot from the linux disk, there is even an option to leave the windows install intact and just run Linux from the CD. When booting from Linux you may need to go into your bios and tell it to boot from the CD, but that is simple as well.

I am not that much of a computer pro, and I was able to do it fairly easily when my hard drive failed.

This was my first thought. It's possible that the laptop is blue screening for a split second with some graphics driver problem and then rebooting. The settlement is over by now so there is no chance to get it repaired for free. To the original poster, this laptop has a graphics chip in it (either an NVIDIA 8400 or 8600M GT) that has a fatal design flaw, essentially rendering your laptop useless after a few years. This isn't necessarily your problem but I have a strong suspicion you might be facing a GPU problem.

What you should do is boot up your laptop, repeatedly tap F8 after the Dell logo disappears but before the Microsoft Corporation screen, and choose the option "Disable automatic restart on system failure". Hopefully you will see a blue screen with an error code near the top of the screen (a few words in all capital letters separated by underscores - like UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME). That would help diagnose the problem.
