It performs at 2.12ghz...witch i guess is equivalint to 2.6mhz p4.... but how do i "overclock" my computer so it has faster speed? And what are the risks, does it shorten the life, what do i need to buy, etc.

any help appreciated, thnx

well it looks like you got some good cooling, only problem is you got ddrpc2100, thats fine, but 2700 or 3200 would be better for overclocking. Make sure you got good cooling on your cpu and the temps are down before trying anything, and always watch the temp after you OC. As far as ocing is concerned i use this program that came with my mobo, you would prolly do it thru bios, but since my bios is so basic, i cant help you out there.

Here's alink to a thread in which everyone posted links to their favorite OC articles. Scan through this and you will find lots of good stuff. OCing Links

Your cpu and mobo can support a FSB speed of 200/400. Whereas your ram (pc2100) is 133/266. First thing I'd buy would be some pc3200, or pc3500 for higher FSB speeds.

You don't say what FSB speed and multi you're currently using. But with pc2100 you might be able to up it a bit by giving it a little voltage (vdimm). Otherwise, you're pretty much stuck with increasing your cpu's multiplier.

If you get pc 3200, or pc3500 ram, you should be able to run at a FSB of 200/400 no problem. I'd prolly start with a cpu multi of 10 and see how high I could get the FSB over 200/400. After topping out there, I'd start raising the cpu's multi to see how I could go.

Be sure to use Motherboard Monitor 5 to check temps as you raise the cpu's voltage (vcore).

Also, Powmax makes really, really crappy psu's. A good psu is helpful in OCing, you need steady power for stability. Look at Fortron (newegg.com has them) or Enermax. The more amps on the 12 volt rail, the better generally.

Post any future OC questions in the cpu/processors section, you'll get answers quicker cuz thats mostly an OC section.

Hope that helps.

EDIT: The risks are shorter life span of the component for which you are raising the voltage. The heat generated is the culprit. By keeping an eye on cpu temps you can avoid causing any damage.
