About the buy a SSD. Not sure which one to buy :(

Which one is better overall? Also can put them in rank order for me please? (1 the best) I know there are other options but I'm getting these in store which they have in stock.

You have two different drives... 2 consumer-level drives, and 2 'pro' level drives, and you didn't list prices... price has much to do with it.

If those are your choices, I'd take the M500 480GB...

What do you mean by '2 consumer-level drives, and 2 'pro' level drives'? Sorry I have no clue when it comes to PC tech. Allso all the SSD cost around 80-90 pounds
The SSD is mainly for gaming and whatnot.

'Consumer level' is a standard drive, usually with a lesser warranty. A 'Pro' level drive usually is built with better components and/or performs at a higher level, and usually comes with a better warranty, if that is important to you. Today's consumer drives perform almost at the level of pro drives, and in most cases you wouldn't see any difference in normal PC use.

The 840Pro and M550 are 'pro' level drives, the 840 (EVO, I'm assuming) and the M500 are 'consumer level' drives. If the price difference is minimal, I'd take the M550... BUT if I could get the M500 480GB drive for the same price as the M550... I'd get the M500 because of the extra space.

It's not the best, but it has double the capacity of the others while still being a very solid drive. I have an M500 in one of my laptops, I can vouch for it's service.

If you are looking for the 'best' drive in that bunch, I would pick the M550 (over the 840Pro, which I also have.)

All four are fantastic drives with great performance. But lets not kid ourselves, if you don't have a specific use case where top end performance becomes a measurable benefit (ie long transfers or writing of large builds that can be measured in minutes). Then once you get past the initial hump with instant read access and 300 mbs reads, then they all start to meld together. At that point size is the most important part. the M500 is still a 500 read/400 write drive, by a trusted supplier. Doubling the space is more important than chasing the last 50mbs.
