I thought it was killed once already about 2 years ago? Did they bring it back for a couple years?

Yes, the AMCFRTP* has a very strong lobby in congress.

Ford sources had said in 2002 that the company would discontinue the 19-foot Excursion, but it wound up getting an extended lease on life.

Yea a lot of people wrote/e-mailed/etc... and keep it alive. But even after that, sales did not move any. So ford pulled its head out of its... well yu know, and is KILLING it for good.

I have seen very few of them on the road down here in Texas. I see tons of every other SUV from Hummers, to Chevy Suburban, Explorers and so forth but very few Excursions. I suppose if I don't see many of them in the largest truck market, then sales do have to be pretty bad.

I used to hate Ford and their trucks. Now I work for them. Ironic isn't it. The Excursion actually drives quite well, it is a bit rough riding, very thirsty and visiblity is so-so. But, once you are on the move, its not so bad.

Currently I like the Navigator. I was driving one a few days ago, very impressed with the car-like handling and pleasant ride. Not allowed to keep one though.

the problem is that they don't fit in garages. here in texas garages are designed to fit a suburban and not much else.

Good. Now all they have to do is get rid of all the other gas guzzling pointless vehicles on the road.

I thought that it still fit in a standard garage if you left off the optional roof rack.

yeah like the Expedition wasn't a big enough monstrosity.

Mid-size SUV is all you need... otherwise try a minivan or pickup. I mean, 4WD with a monster truck isn't the point anymore.

Rented a brand new one once.

Not very spacious inside despite the large size. Took $100 to fill up when gas was cheap.

The thing rode higher than Suburbans. It was weird to see people in other SUVs looking up at you or being able to see their roofs.

I really liked them. Only SUV that I know of that was available in diesel and when you use that option they get comparable milage to explorer sized vehicals.

Don't really know why people give them such a hard time about milage even the 6.8 liter V10 gets better milage than a H2.

Oh well now they are gonna produce more trucks which are much more functional and you still get all the advantages of the excursion.

So long as they dont get rid of the Bull (Taurus) all is fine with me...bring back the SHO and give it the excursion engine

Actually know a family who had one, they traded it in and got a suburban, which they felt was roomier, nicer ride, and just nicer all around.

Doesn't the H2 get something like 7/10 or 8/12 hwy/city? According to the article, the Expedition gets 10/14...

I'm glad they killed it, but I'm even MORE glad to see that sales of monster SUVs are finally dying. Because ultimately it's not the companies, but the consumers, that decide what shows up on the roads...

The H2 DOES need to die, though.

Why do people here like ot piss and moan about large SUVs and their owners? There are some people with large families who actually need a vehicle capable of hauling more than 4 people in comfort. Give it a rest already...morons.
