you said yourself it's $3000 less than the sticker price, how much better do you expect?

i briefly condsidered the 350Z, but once i saw it in person, no dice. imo, ugly, tacky and cheap looking. what's not a matter of opinion is the huge brace running across the car just behind the seats. i needed a daily driver to live with, and that's definately not the Z. i wound up with the g35 coupe - better looks, better interior by light years, lots of goodies in the basic trim level, and it pretends to have a back seat.

I 2nd the G, if you haven't tested one, do it before you regret missing out. The Z pales in comparison.

I'll come right out and state my strong Z bias (owner of a 1990 300ZX TT) and if you like the looks and feel of the car (because I know without a doubt you'll love the sound ) jump all over it. You won't regret it.

You have the nice Z though, the new one is a disgrace to the legacy of the Z. Your Z ran right up against the Corvette, and bested it in many areas (for 1990, and not comparing the awesome ZR-1). The new Z gives Camry V6 performance in a bland, overpriced package.

I actually like the looks of the Z more than the G35. The G35 is a nice sports luxury car. The Z is just a pure sports car. The Z has 306hp but has potential for quite a bit more. TT Z's are sweet as hell.

Its so hard to pick a side on this one since both rides are so amazing.....I will admit the g35/37 has a super impressive and "muscular" presence about it

Oh btw, please for the love of god leave the spoiler off, they just look so tacky on the Z33 (well any Z for that mater, they've all been designed without them in mind, and lets keep it that way)

edit: and man up and get a stick

Are you serious? You are comparing and camry to the Z? What are you smoking? Just because a camry or accord has V6, does not make it a performance vehicle!

I think he's more pointing out the world class level of performance the 300ZX TT had versus the 350Z having essentially stock vs. stock the same (if not slightly less) levels a decade later. It should also be mentioned that with inflation correction and whatnot the 350Z is also MUCH less expensive than the 300ZX TT was as well as the fact that with minor (intake, chip, exhaust) the 300ZX would lay down slightly over 400 ponies on the dyno whereas the 350Z would need significant modification (internals and/or forced induction kit) to reach this level of power.

I remember reading that a lower model Z was very similar to a Camry V6 in 0-60 and qtr mile.

if I can remmeber correctly from the car and driver article you're quoting.

ote though that these are the best time I could fine, the 350z is more of a 5.4s 0-60 car in almost all other reviews and the Camry is usually 6.0-6.1, still it's the quickest car in its class, pretty impressive actually for a FWD family sedan, since it beats out the Impala/Monte Carlo SS with a Chevy Small Block V8.

but you still talking well more than a car length there and more importantly look at skid pad/slalom figures. FWD becomes even more useless than normal when you ask the wrong wheels to lay down over 200hp

the wrong driver could quickly close that gap

I dont think anyone is saying the Camry ever had a chance at beating or competing with the 350, just that the 350z performance was not very good in comparison.

And if a driver blows a clutch in his gallardo he can lose to a geo metro, does that mean they are even in the same league?

i think his comparison was to demonstrate that the 350Z isn't that exciting compared to the 300ZX, since a lot of family cars/minivans already have a V6 that will put down at least 240 horses, but in the olden days of 1990 280 ponies will beat most cars on the road.

Exactly right, the 300ZX TT was a force to be reckoned with in its day, giving Vettes migraines, but today's 350Z is only a pale shadow in the legacy of the Z, barely fending off family sedans, while getting utterly obliterated by the more performance-oriented competition (GTO, Vette, Evo, Sti, etc, etc).
