Using cellular for home internet should be considered a last resort - Useful in emergencies or if you have been passed over by wired services in a house you've lived in forever. Wired is always better - faster, more reliable, and cheaper for anything above incidental use. Oh and it still works fine when you leave with your phone. Do you seriously post here and have nothing that relies on an internet connection? Data backup from a storage appliance? Smart home devices? Security system?

In short this is a terrible plan, or you are terribly lost to be here.

I have Sprint Freedom Unlimited....my cost is actually $45/month for unlimited talk/text....and I get 10GB/month for wireless hotspot. I stream movies to my xbox one and phone with it...I just don't do a lot of wifi hotspot stuff because I also use it for work on occasion and like to save some data usage to avoid going into the office. When I was with Verizon, the speed was much faster and service was even more reliable....Verizon just followed what all the other companies did and the messed with my bill so I dropped them.

In my neighborhood, I have 3 internet options....DSL $45/month, Cable Internet $65/month, or Cellular Internet Unlimited Data(local provider) $45-100 depending on speed desired.

Of those options, cable is the best, but I hate the company and their billing practices. I had 2 agents tell me the company couldn't give me a better rate...when I finally said, "Cancel my service", a third one said something different. That makes me feel like I was lied to.... I seriously just don't use it enough because I'm at work 8 hours a day and asleep another 8 hours a day....doing other stuff 4 hours a day...and busy most weekends. It's just a waste of money for me.

I had been with Spectrum for almost 15 years and saw my bill increase 17% in one year. When asked, I was told that I had been paying too little and that my bill was being "stepped" up to what it should be ... about $210 per month for basic service. I searched around and found basically the same service from a rival (AT&T) for about $130 per month. The quality of service is basically the same at a savings of 30% of what I was paying so very happy.

If it were up to me I would have basic Internet only and a VOIP phone since the only cell service I have is pay-as-u-go.

I was able to play EQ in raid guild with one of the 3g versions USB adapters and used ventrillos as well without any problems. Of course updating killed my caps. But it was only for a month.

I have a few Xbox Ones....it's pretty brutal when I buy games you have to download or get stuck with a 3.5gb update. One game I bought was 22GB....I ended up taking my Xbox to the a family member's house and connecting it to their wifi...another time, I used the AC adapter in my car and an hdmi computer monitor to go war driving with my Xbox...that worked, but most restaurants around here have slow connections that are optimized for the dining rooms and not the parking lot.

Everytime your bill goes up you gotta learn to call them immediately and bitch a fit until they bring it down or make it something reasonable. I refuse to pay more than $30-50 for cable internet (depending on speed offer is where I decide if the higher end is worth it or not).

But to answer your question: Yes, fucking get rid of cable TV and get with the rest of us nerds that have learned to download linux distros.

If you actually wanted to keep cable so much this. Just call and threaten to cancel because your bill has gone up and they will throw all kinds of deals at you. When I canceled mine for good, and I was adamant that I wanted to cancel no matter what, they kept throwing better and better deals at me to try and get me to stay. It wasn't until I finally told the girl that unless she can get my cable TV charge to zero and I mean zero fucking dollars that I wanted to cancel that shit she relented.

Not to mention the data caps. I would blow my cell data cap in a matter of days just from nack/ack packets and other passive data alone. It would end up being way more expensive.
