I have to wear steel toes to work, and really, i wouldn't want to come to work barefoot, god knows what's on the floors here...christ I spit on the floors most of the time.

Dude. No one wants to see your disgusting man-feet.

BINGO! And I don't want to see anyone else's. This isn't being GQ or uptight, this is about not seeing how people lounge around their friggen house.

Pull the stick out of your ass and do some real work, why the hell are you staring at people's feet?

What, do you walk around the office with your eyes closed? How can you not see what people are wearing?

I don't think I've ever noticed my coworkers' footwear. Apparently I'm weird and/or care less about what people wear.

no worse than the "clomp clomp clomp" of heels. Some days it sounds like there is a horse and carriage running around

The leather on my Florsheims squeak, so when I walk down a hall you hear "clop squee clop squee clop sqee clop squee..."

I don't understand that either. I see and take note of what's in my peripheral vision. I could never look down and still know whether someone's wearing shoes or not. In fact, I specifically avoid looking down when I notice they aren't wearing shoes because I don't want an eyeful of their awful man-feet.

Going barefoot is cool - for the person doing it. For everyone else, it's like "WTF is wrong with this guy?"

Personally, I think not wearing shoes is great and I wish walking areas were equipped with things to make going barefoot easier.

This post is not a joke. Unlike the other ones in this thread.
what needs to be done to make barefoot easier? I walk down the road barefoot and can walk on gravel barefoot fine too...

Show some dedication to going barefoot and your feet will get tougher

I technically should be wearing steel toe boots where I work, but nobody does and it's not really enforced. There's not really any actual dangers, but all the equipment rooms require them. I guess in case a cisco switch or DMS shelf somehow randomly starts attacking your feet lol. Everything is bolted down, it aint going anywhere.

I would totally be cool with a work environment that required to take shoes off, and that you could walk around in socks or bare feet. Though if it did not require that shoes be taken off then it would kinda make it suck because in winter the floors would be all wet.

On the other hand, most public buildings require foot wear as per fire code so I'm surprised some places do allow to go shoe less or wear sandals/crocs etc.

You're right... the main barrier to going barefoot in public is probably in my mind.

College campuses are great for going barefoot.
