Mine just arrived today, with almost the exact same specs as yours and so far I love it. Have not had a chance to do a whole lot yet since I was testing the DVD quality and popped in the Incredibles and my little girl came in and starting watching it and has not let me back on it yet. She seems to prefer it over the Plasma hanging on the wall :Q

I just boughta Dell Inspiron 9300 Last Friday from the Dell Outlet and these our the specs.

Inspiron 9300 Notebook: Intel Pentium M 730 Processor (1.60GHz/533MHz FSB) Integrated Audio
Microsoft Windows XP Home
512 MB DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz (2 DIMM)
80 GB EIDE Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
128MB DDR ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300

17 inch UltraSharp Wide Screen XGA+
Wireless 1350 Internal Wireless
8x DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability

I got this for $1169 but I'm thinking of returning it because I am not sure of the Video Card. I am a casual gamer that enjoys a game here and there and I would possibly get dissapiointed and frustrated with the ATI x300 SE. Any thoughts on this?

This is what I am thinking of getting instead. The laptops are very similar except the items that are in BOLD. With the $750 coupon I'm getting the new configuration for $1252 What do you gusy think? Do I sacrifice some of the items for the much better video card? I'm on a budget so I want to stick by the 1100-1300 range.

Inspiron 9300 Notebook: Intel Pentium M 730 Processor (1.60GHz/533MHz FSB) Integrated Audio

40 GB Hard drive
NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800

17 inch UltraSharp? Wide Screen XGA+ Display
Wireless 1350 Internal Wireless
8x DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability

Thanks for your thoughts!

johncatral - Get the bare minimum RAM and HD. Upgrade those yourself afterwards. For example, for a little bit more than the $50 Dell charges for upgrade to 512, you can get a 512 DDR2 module thus giving you a total of 768 MB.

i have the dell 9300 with the wuxga 17" screen. everything looks ok, but all images under Internet Explorer seems like it has been enlarged and its not as sharp. the LCD screen resolution is 1920x1200, but viewing a 1280x960 image under IE will take up the entire screen and more, and require a little bit of scrolling. if setting the image as wallpaper, it looks fine on the desktop. i've already turned off IE image resize option. what can i do to have IE display images correctly? anyone got any ideas?

from what I have read you should get the 6800....the ati card is not up to snuff and will bog down....

I just got mine tonight...just finishing the formatting of the drive to get all the sh!t off of it. For the most part it looks awsome...thing is way bigger than I expected....can't wait to try out a couple of games on it to see how it looks

one question though...I should run the games in 1900 x 1200 right ?

My XPS2 came with DPI @ 120 (Large), I set it back to normal and the text is not fuzzy anymore, but of course it is small.

As far as gaming in 1900x1200, yes it is great and you should have no probs. But I have run 1680x1050 just testing and the interpolation (fuzziness) was not really a problem, it still looked great.

Return that x300 turd, the upgrade is worth it even for the casual gamer.
