Yes, but I wasn't in the States when I did. And the stuff you get here in the States is most likely crap. But the stuff tastes like ass anyway...

The reason it was banned in the US in the first place is because people didnt research it. Wormwood in small doses isnt going to do anything to you, however if processed incorrectly it can really F you up... not in a good way.

In any event, the long term effects of drinking Absinthe are nothing more than the long term effects of drinking any alcoholic beverage... it can result in dependency when over-induldged in.

Basically, people like Absinthe because it tastes like licorice and has a high alcohol concentration... also, the whole method of drinking it is rather ritualistic, so I'm sure that comes into play too.

In conclusion, Absinthe is nothing special.

Processed incorrectly - means back in the old days cheap distilleries used to put copper in their brews to give a deep green colour. Copper = bad.

Thujone is the only reason it's special, and Absinthe for sale in the U.S has zero Thujone content.

never tried it. one of the local bars advertises "the real deal", meaning good Absinthe I guess.

does it just make you feel drunk or what?

If you're in the USA, and want the real deal the only way to get it is to make it yourself. Selling real Absinthe which has Thujone from wormwood in it is ILLEGAL in the US. Thujone is banned by the FDA

Fry your brains here

And now back to your regularly scheduled neffing.

Thats why copper is used in a lot of hot water heater piping even to this day.

Actually way back in the day Cu is what the expensive breweries had. The cheap breweries used piping which had some real bad nasties in it, including Pb.

Green color in Absinthe is from plant pigment/chlorophyll

me and my roommates made it last year. It tastes like liquid licorice.... and gets you ****** up like nothing else. It's nowhere near hallucinogenic if you do a shot or two, but one of my buddies did have a seizure after taking like 5or 6 shots.

Basically what he was saying that he was looking at himself in the mirror and saw himself hall on his back.... but he was still standing there. Then he walked outta his room blacked out

Funny that this came up. My neighbor recently got interested after we missed a recent party where we were going to try it. When he gets a thought in his head it rarely leaves without action being taken, so he emailed me the next day after having ordered this... http://www.absinthe.bz/store/absinthe-king-gold.html

He got the 2-pack, so I'll pay for one of the bottles when it shows up (He's the one with the big idea.. he can take the financial risk). From other research apparently it's just illegal to sell, but not illegal to have or consume so if you order it internationally and it's not packaged for 'human consumption' then there's nothing illegal about it. It's not my name or money on the line yet, so it'll be interesting to see what happens. Important to mention that there's no solid evidence that thujone has any crazy effects, so it may end up just being expensive and disgusting everclear. Either way it'll be interesting to have.

If you like anisettes like Jaeger or Sambucca, you will probably like Absinthe. It won't make you hallucinate, but it's usually pretty potent and will put you on your ass.

I love the stuff, personally.

Read your own link there. There have been cheap imitations of absinthe that did use copper sulfate for the coloring. And having copper pipes is not the same as ingesting copper, by the way.
