absolute BEST ram for Asus A8N SLI Deluxe?

I want the best ram money can buy for new board. Has anyone had or heard of extreme performance with certain ram and this board? Id love to get 2 gigs but my budget is only $450-500.

Why do you want 2gb?

Also, it really doesn't matter what RAM you get as long as it can go to 240mhz, because anything beyond that is a waste of cash IMO.

I have the 4200EL Plat 1gb kit and I DEFINATELY can't use it to the fullest of it's potential in this board. At 2t timings I can hit 295mhz no problem, but only at 2t.

The max 1t for a 1gb Samsung TCCD seems to be at about 240. Some claim 250 but most of the people I know can't reach it. I have seen some higher 1t clocked screenshots with BH-5 but only 512mb kits...

The high latency timings required for 2 GB's would kill your performance. Stick with a good quality 1GB kit. In my opinion, you can't do better than the Corsair XMS4400C25.

"Kill" is probably a bit of an overstatement... All the 2x1GB kits I know of are CAS3 at 400MHz, but the actual performance difference in real-world applications is probably less than 1% most of the time.

Kingston HyperX makes a 2gb kit with cas 2.5, but they are like $750

As Jmag said, anything that will run over 240 is a waste of cash, unless a future bios revision fixes the 240 problem

he can buy 4 single sided modules of LL ram then. should work with nice timings.in my oppinion thats a waste of cash anyways. cuz i agree to sreams, timings dont matter much, its like 3% difference, maybe 5 if timings go really slow but explain that to an enthusiast .

Just the best! I have the same OCZ, it's great stuff. It runs great timmings and high speeds. And it works well with this board. It is capable of running higher speeds than this board will currently support, which some would argue makes it a waste of money. But hopefully the ram limitations of this board will be fixed with a future bios update.
