I detailed in this thread how CC had the 160GB WD SE drive for $199.99 less $100 in mir's a couple weeks ago, and how they have it now for $199.99 less $80 in mir's.

I also detailed that many of the drives were indeed 200GB SE drives in the "boxes".

And how I, along with many others were able to get CC to pricematch to Sam's club price of $148.27.

The deal just got sweeter!

I just got back from Sam's club where thay have now lowered the price to $129.84. I just checked the sam'sclub web site, and the new price is reflected there also.

I'm headed over to CC shortly to get back an additional $18.43 (+ 10%?) plus tax on each drive I purchased. That means the bottom line for this deal for me should be.......

Drive bought a couple weeks ago:

Original price = $211.99
Sam's PM #1 = -$60.39
Sam's PM #2 = -$15.47
$100 mir's = -$100.00
Postage = $.74
Grand total = $36.87

Drive bought this week:

Original price = $211.99
Sam's PM #1 = -$60.39
Sam's PM #2 = -$15.47
$100 mir's = -$80.00
Postage = $.74
Grand total = $56.87

Now that's a HOT DEAL

I'll update this thread when I get back.

How do you get them to match Sams when they dont have a sale paper? I guess they could call? My Sams card club expired anyway...:brokenheart:

I already sent in the rebates. Can you do the second pricematch now with a copy of the receipt?

Edit: nm, I kept the original and sent in the rebate receipts and it's been more than 14 days
Edit2: So it seems that the Low price guarantee is good for 30 days. yay

I just got back from CC, and they did the pricematch with no questions asked.

My math was just a little off, as I didn't fully take into account the previous pm (extra 10%)

I edited the OP, but enough to say that the two drives will be $36.87 and $56.87 respectively.

For those with BVG, this is stupendous! Unfortunately, I long since used up my BVG for the year.

As for
How do you get them to match Sams when they dont have a sale paper?

I printed out the page from the website and took that to CC.

Thanks OP!!

There is a problem in the CC system. When you do a PM a second time with CC, you lose the advantage of the extra 10% from the first 110% PM. I have seen this problem in the past PMs with CC.

For example in this case (let's ignore tax to keep it simple):

FIRST PM:
Original: 199.99
Minus PM1: (199.99 - 148.27) * 1.1 = 56.89
Total: 143.10

SECOND PM:
After PM1: 143.10
Minus PM2: (143.10-129.84)*1.1 = 12.16
Total: 130.94

If the PM was done the correct way:

Original: 199.99
PM: (199.99-129.84)*1.1 = 77.16
Total: 122.82

I guess hardcore DUKAT1 did not notice this.

No, a REAL hardcore dude would have included the prorated car insurance cost, the depreciation due to the additional wear on the car, the additional health care cost due to the additional risk from the pollution from the tailpipe for the trip, etc.

So if you buy it this week you get it for:

(200-70(=200(CC price)-130(sam's price))*1.1)*1.06(tax)-80=50.38+.78$ for envelope and stamps=51.16....hot hot hot and if you get the 200GB--oh my god..this is crazy... like 25 cents per GB....

Let's not forget the significant lack of income that you would have received as interest on the money that you are lending interest free. Even ultra low risk investments would have produced at least $0.83 or so over the average return date of those rebates. This is more significant than the postage (which was calculated).

Well it didn't work out so well for me.... the manager comes up and says

"acutally , our price is BETTER than Sam's after rebate. So no, I cannot give you the PM"

blah blah! I just told em that I'd rather buy it at 124 now, then buy it at 200 at CC and hope to get a rebate back!

Ultra low risk investment for what percentage interest? Lets take 5% in a certificate which is very high BTW. 100 gives you 5$ in a year. 5/100*2(months)/12=80cents. So its not at least $.83. My bank for example gives me 2.4% for a 24months certificate. That will be close to 40cents---half of what tou need to spend on postage on this deal.

does anyone have a picture of the number that differentiates between a 200 model and a 160 model? the only number i saw on the box was a model number of the drive. turned out not to matter b/c the sales mananger couldnt give me any more reasons to deny the PM

1. our price is lower after rebate,
2. the rebate is through WD so i cant PM,
3. the rebate is through CC? oh i cant give you a drive for $50!
4. we dont PM wholesalers,
5. it doesnt say that in the PM gaurentee? oh... we just don't....

gonna head to a different CC today, but i can't find the difference in boxes between the 200 model and the 160 model. the only model number i saw on the box was WD1600JBRTL. can someone help me?

To tell which drive you have, turn the box over and look through the clear plastic at the drive itself. On the sticker, it will either say "WD1600" or "WD2000" in about 14-point font. WD1600 = 160GB, WD2000 = 200GB. At the store I went to, there were about 5 160GB's and 1 200GB. I was denied on the PM on the 200GB because the after-rebate price at CC was lower than Sam's price.

I was denied PM from 2 different stores- one said that they would not PM because Sam's is a wholesaler and they are a retailer (a distiction that is nowhere in their posted PM policy), the other for that reason and that the after rebate price was lower :|
