BB has the 160 deal this week and so last week every store had like twenty or more of them, and not a single 200 to be found through several stores. So I wonder if the 200 in 160 is only for stores WD likes or something.
thinkin' about headin to Sam's Club now and seeing

how do you know if it's a 200 in a 160 box?

I just read in the thread how to do this.... but it doesn't seem like Sam's is carrying the 200 in a 160 box.

Went to BB in San Francisco with Sams Club WD 160GB for $129 online price proof, and the address and phone # of Sam Club nearby (Concord, CA), and they price-matched but refused to give me the rebates that printed from the register. They called Sams Club prior to pior to giving me the PM, but they didn't hold for a response from them. I printed the BB rebate forms that are online and mailed them in ($10 and $70). If I get the rebates, I will have paid $49 for the drive!

Thanks for the hint leonardosf! Did the same and got BB to PM Sam's BUT they didn't give me a regular receipt, i ended up with a yellow piece of paper that clearly mentioned the princematch.
Questions:
-- Are the online rebate valid if you print them for an item you bought instore?
-- If i send the MIR with the PM receipt, are they going to refuse it?
-- Can i go back to another BB and get them to print out another receipt by just bringing the drive and my CC?

I am no pm guru like these guys, but I think you can fix that pretty easily.

Return the drive, buy it again with no pricematch, get your reciept, then get it pm'd. That way they can't give you some other sort of reciept and they can't refuse to give you the rebates, and you still get it for the same price. I am going down there today to pick one of these up, and I think that is what I am gonna do. I will just go back tomorrow and show them the sam's price, there are like 20 cc's around me so one should pm this for me.

I just found this at fatwallet.com in their forum thread about this deal...
"Possible PM to Sams Club to $129.84
$199.99 - $70.15PM - $70MIR = $59.84 ($10MIR to BB invalidated with PM, but send it anyway)"

Looks like you aren't suppose to be able to get the $10 one, but the $70 one should be fine if you just print it out. This is where buying it first, and having it pm'd later is a good idea.

Straight from CC's own web site:

In-Store Price Match Plus Guarantee (for purchases made in one of our stores)

Nothing's worse than paying too much. That's why we do everything in our power to make sure you don't pay a penny more than you should for anything you buy at Circuit City. If you've seen a lower advertised price from another local store with the same item in stock, we want to know about it. Bring it to our attention, and we'll gladly beat their price by 10% of the difference. Even after your Circuit City purchase, if you see a lower advertised price (including our own sale prices) within 30 days, we'll refund 110% of the difference. We're with you!

Our policy applies only to advertised prices. It does not apply to special offers or promotions, including rebates, free-with-purchase offers, and special financing.

Advertised price - Any printed or electronically broadcast price that is verifiable and made available to the general public. Special offers or promotions do not qualify. This includes, but is not limited to, rebates, free-with-purchase offers, and special financing.

Local store - Refers to a location in the same metropolitan area and/or within a reasonable distance of our store, as long as the lower price is advertised.

Same item - Exactly the same model, in the same condition, new, in a box, with applicable manufacturer's warranty available.

In stock - Available for sale and delivery that day.

Note that I took the initative of copying all their information here so you guys can just print it out and take it with you.

Our policy applies only to advertised prices. It does not apply to special offers or promotions, including rebates, free-with-purchase offers, and special financing.

VERY Interesting! They push the fact that special offers and rebates aren't allowed to artificially deflate the price, yet they throw it back in your face that THEIR price is lower BECAUSE OF the rebate. It don't work both ways, kiddies.

Thanks for the suggestion, but i wonder if i want to go through the hassle of doing the pm again! If i can't get a regular receipt, i'll end up returning it cause of their stupid policy of online rebate for online purchase only. Good luck to you and hopefully when they do the PM they won't change your ticket. On a different note, when you print the Sam's page, watch out for the warranty stuff that prints out on the second page, it's only one year vs BB 3years. If they give you any problem with membership card, told them that Sam's give free one day pass or charge 10% extra for non-members.

Went back to a different BB and got a duplicate receipt with no mentioned of the PM and the two rebates from the store. So unless they turn me down for the duplicate receipt, that should work out.
gouda96 & Infi -- Thanks for your suggestions!

I tried this deal as well, but was refused for several different reasons, all invented and inconsistent with their written price match policy, which is duplicity at it's finest. I should have taken the product to another section and tried the pricematch there like other people who posted said they did.

This is my experience in Augusta, GA. The salesperson refused. Then I talked to a manager. He told me these excuses:

1) Sams is an exclusive club. Not everyone is allowed to shop at Sams. Over 46 million people shop at Sams. In 2003, they had $31,702.0 mill in sales vs. the $9,953.5 mill Circuit City 2003 sales. Yea sounds really exclusive. Circuit City sounds more exclusive.

2) He could not price match because Circuit City could not purchase the hard drive for $130 and such a price match would mean Circuit would lose money. This is a lie, this guy has no idea what Circuit City purchases drives for.

3) He said combining the price match with the rebate that Circuit City would pay, CC would really lose money from the deal. This is a lie. Western Digital pays 100% of that $70 rebate.

4) Price matching was at the descretion of the manager and the manager does not have to price match if he/she does want to. No where does it say this in the Price Protection Guarantee that is posted in their store or on the website.

5)He said that he could not price match because actually the Circuit City price did beat the Sams price. He said that after rebates the price of the hard drive is $120 which is cheaper than $130. That's sketchy. I sure didn't understand it that was when I read the price matching policy. I read that neither stores rebates could be used, but the again it doesn't say that exactly. The line about the rebates and special offers not being included could also mean that there is no pricematching on any item that has a some discount or incentive with it. Or it could mean what he said. It sure seems to me that it doesn't mean what I think it says.

So I sent an email off to corporate. I got the generic responses from their Indian customer service center. Here's a nice gem:
"> Please note that stacking a competitor's offer on top of our own is not
> supported. If we are advertising a gift card promotion, for example, a
> reaction download to a competitor's lower floor price (Price Match Plus)
> should not take place if that competitor is not offering a gift card,
> too. The net price to the customer, however, should be the same as the
> competitor out the door price. Hence, we cannot offer gift card as well
> as price match simultaneously for a particular product. I apologize for
> any inconvenience this may cause."

I have trouble even following the logic on this one. Is he talking about the same thing I am?

I ended up talking with a local manager they referred the issue to. He spouted out the same duplicity as everyone else did. He did say that I could price match now since I had such a hard time. Doesn't do me much good. He eventually said he could possibly price match a future sale that included a manufacturer's rebate, just see him at the store. Yaaa, the prize for being the whiniest biotch around.

I'm guessing price matching deals are big time YMMV's.

I got this drive on sat. When i called i was told they would pm to sam's no problem, and all i needed was to print out the price. They didn't have any 200gb drives, but 160gb for $60 isn't too shabby.

When I went to the front the manager took the flyer in the back room. When he came back out after like 20 min. of me just standing there he said he couldn't get onto sam's club's site, but every other site was fine and that their site was down. He said he could not pm it to this price because they would lose money on the drive, so he offered to split the difference. I then proceeded to pull out their pm policy that infy so kindly posted. I said that was absolutely rediculous and that it didn't follow their policy at all, and that he was lying about them taking a loss on the drive and that sam's site was down. I asked to use an internet terminal to see for myself. When I tried to connect to sam's site it was blocked at cc. I called my house, and had my family verify that it was up and running...so it seems that cc has blocked sam's site to use the excuse of not being able to get price verification.

I then asked them to call sam's, and the manager said that they won't give the price over the phone. That was bs because the way I helped the guy at sam's locate the drive was by telling him the price and him reading the prices back to me. I gave him the number and he disappeared for another half hour. He came back and said they wouldn't tell him the price. I said that was a flat out lie and that I would call them myself...he then said that he sat on hold for 20 min. and nobody picked up. I then called the number and got an answer and was transfered to the computer department in less than 1 minute. He said he could not use MY phone to obtain the price verification, that it had to be an instore phone...yeah...that is in their policy lol...I said this was absolutely outrageous how they had handled this, that they would repeatedly lie to a customers face, and try to get out of pm'ing the item when if there realy was a problem with the verification it was their fault and I shouldn't have to pay for that. He then agreed that since he was simply unable to reach sam's that he would give the $40 that he said he would origianlly, and that I could either come back or call them at a later date when their system was working and they would credit the remainder of the pm back to me. I agreed and left, called back the next day where I talked to a nice lady that credited me back the rest, except she messed up and gave me the full pm....that is right...I got an extra $40 off on this drive because cc figured I would be too lazy to call back the next day for the rest of my money! So in the end cc's manipulative bs lies came back and bit them in the rear, and I got this drive for $129-10%-$70-$40=basically nothing

After it was all over in the store the manager told me how surprised he was that an 18 yearold could be so determined and civil about this, and thanked me for not losing my patience. I laughed and wondered how many people just accepted their crap and left without getting what they deserved.

Now all I need are the rebates, which I can't seem to find...does anyone have the $10 and $70 rebates? I need to get them...could you please msg me if you have them...or e-mail them to colbycohen@yahoo.com?
