So I've been trying to put together a machine myself from various parts. I see a power indicator light on the mobo light up, and when I hit the power switch, the machine turns on. The cpu fan spins, the chassis fan spins, the graphics card fan spins, and an accessory fan also spins. The DVD drive can open and close.
However, no video signal is sent to the monitor. I've tried sending the signal from the graphics card's dvi out and vga out, no luck. The mobo has onboard video and that signal also fails. The monitor shows a message about "Power Save mode, move keyboard or mouse". This occurs when the machine is first turned on, when it shouldn't be in power save mode. At first I thought the culprit was the mobo, so I bought a new one, then I thought it was the processor because the original one was taken from an older machine. Same problem. So, I thought the problem was with the case and a faulty P/S. So I bought another case (the exact same as the first one), no luck. I also tried with another monitor I know works, and no luck.
I've bought pretty much all brand new components (except the DVD drive) and I get the same problem. Below is the current component list. Hopefully I'm overlooking something really simple.
Case:Antec Aria
Processor: Pentium4 3.0Ghz, Socket 478, 800Mhz FSB
Mobo: Asus P4P800-VM
Graphics Card: PNY GeForce 6600 AGP
DVD Drive: Pioneer DVD/RW
Memory: 1GB PC3200 Non ECC
HDD: Maxtor 200GB SATA
