I have an X2 4400 oc'ed to 2600MHz. Idle/Load temps at 41C/51C. Iam thinking of getting the AC Freezer 64 Pro. Will it be worth it?
First you talk about it being the best regardless of cost, and then you qualify that statement by "working up there with the best of them"and by mentioning its value?Originally posted by: RallyMaster
IMO, the Freezer 64 Pro is no doubt the best money can buy right now. It works up there with the best of them and is half the price of the Zalman CNPS9500. What more can you ask from a heatsink?
Damn. I wanted to nitpick some more.Originally posted by: RallyMaster
First sentence means: it's a good deal.
Second sentence means: it performs well and is half the price of the Zalman 9500
Does that clear it up?
Idle CPU temp and ambient temp are the same? :QOriginally posted by: d3 npb
ambient is at 24C as well. I'm using the fan that came with the hsf of course, in an antec tx1050 case. 3x80mm, 1x92mm, 1x120mm fans. It's pretty quiet actually..
Hmm... you know, if you lap with a high enough grit, you won't even need thermal compound.Originally posted by: d3 npb
yeah i know, i was surprised too.. the entire hsf is literally cold to the touch.. I lapped the hsf AND the heat spreader on the cpu, so with just a tiny bit of AS5 in between its making really good contact..

Where do you guys usually get your paper for lapping? My local hardware store only has 120 grit. Just curious...
Thanks!

Lack of a profile makes giving direct advice on sourcing stuff a pita
Those that show no profile and disable PMing lack cred on this board in my experiance here.

I used the ultra kit from here LINK for 6.99 shipped.. Comes with 280, 400, 600, 800 wet/dry, alcohol wipes, and 3 cutting/lapping compounds. It's enough to do at least 2 hsfs, and the price was perfect
