I recently bought and Asus P5Q Pro mother board, and my temperatures are at 30-40 degree's celsius. Using the PC Probe 2 software that came with my motherboard. It states the maximum threshold is at 45 degree's celsius for the motherboard.

My CPU chip is running at 20 degree's right now, and my MB is running at 30.
The southbridge heatsink is hot to the touch.
Is this something I should be worried about?

What is your motherboard temperatures running at?

I've heard people on acceptable forums simple say its fine. But never told me what they have their system running at.
It's all Stock by the way. Nothing is overclocked and its my first computer i've ever built. Im just worried, even though I think I did an awesome job.

I have the Asus P5Q Pro, with a e8500.
If you need to know any other information, let me know please

Most boards don't report a motherboard temp and in general the readings received for motherboard or system temp are bogus numbers anyway. From the souynds of it it seams like the software isn't getting the right information from the temp sensors. 20C is about 68F. There is no way your CPU is running that cool unless you have the room temp way down or its on a chilled water loop.

Now its common to have north and southbridge temps at about 50c to 70c. Chips get hot and are made to have a high threshold. On average an idel temp for the CPU should be aboput 38c to 46c for a none OCed CPU. Thats taking into acount an average room temp of about 24c or 75F.

Use core temp to see what your CPU temps are. Like i said the motherboard is designed to take a good bit of heat and as long as you have decent airflow in the case you'll be fine.
