Access to files in WinXP

Is there any way of accessing a restriced folder in WinXP?

I had to re-install WinXP and now I can't access my previous User folders, which was set to private. My e-mails and downloads are now all unaccesable.

go to the security settings and give your user permissions to it.

turn off simple file sharing has well. tools> folder options >view

Exactly how do I do give my users permissions to that? I've tried, but it doesn't matter who I log on as, I can't get into those folders.

Where do I switch off simple file sharing, I looked but can't find it.

I managed to change the permissions on the folders by loggin in as administrator (safe mode). You have to right click over the folder and then select permissions, you can then add users on the permission list.
