Accidently left my car key in the car and locked it, what can i do?

I drive an 88 camry and accidently locked my car with the key in it. I don't have a backup so that option is out. What can I do? This is the first time that it ever happened to me. Thanks ahead.

Call a locksmith? Or places like AAA will unlock them for a fee. Get a backup key this time

call the cops.. they can use a "slim jim" to open it. I'ts a piece of metal, not beef, so don't worry about making a greasy mess on the window.

And whatever you do, if he can't get it open right away, do NOT say "The last guy got it open with no problem" because then he'll go nuts on it and probably damage it.

I would call AAA.

You COULD try and open it yourself, but you will likely only end up scratching the glass or damaging the internals of the door.

It'll probably only cost you $30.00 to get it open.

one of my friends locked his keys in his car while the car was still running it was funneh...his dad brought the key to school around 30 mins later he burned over 1/4 tank of gas!!

use a wire clothes hanger, straigten it out, push it down between door and car and push the door unluck button or try and open the trunk.

If you have AAA insurance, they do it for free..just call the number on your card

Call any tow truck service... they'll get somebody to you, most of them have a slim jim with them anyways. Costs is about $40 tops.

Hehe, I've locked my keys in my truck while it was running before, it was at school to so everyone got a kick out of it... luckily, it's easy enough to hit the back window of a truck with your palm and knock it out of the slider, so no real harm was done...

As far as what to do, around here state troopers won't even touch locked cars because of liability reasons. If you know somebody with a triple A mambership, call them, and I believe most cab drivers carry slim jims with them and would gladly help you out for a price

Yeah, take a coat hanger and go in between the top of the door and the car if you can. On some cars this won't work because of the way the door shuts or the shape of the lock knob, but on others it can be suprsingly easy. I can get into Ford Taurus this way in just over a minute, and that includes the time to bend the hanger. Then get a spare key made and keep it in your wallet.

check with your insurance company...even if it isnt AAA i did it last week and my insurance company did it for free

or if you have a cell phone and pay for roadside assistance

A coworker once helped me out with a coat hanger.

Umm I've done this a few times

- First two time it was with an older car and I was able to use a coat hanger to open the door.

- The third time was the funniest. Last winter I started up my truck at work then got out and proceeded to clean the snow off it. Well I must of hit the remote when I was starting up because when I went to get back in the doors where looked. There I was in the middle of an empty parking lot with my truck running. After much farting around I discovered that I had free roadside assistance from my car manufacturer. Some guy showed up and let me in an hour latter.
