Wow, they used to pound out the classics.

NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat, and oh man they made bust a move too. Some of the greatest wreastling games too. That sucks.

$500 deposit , ehh. I don't know the first thing when it comes to these estate sales, but if I knew what was going to happen to that deposit, I'd be interested in going down there to pick up anything not first bid on in bulk. A couple arcade machines for the basement, some decent office chairs, maybe a small load of lousy games.

Eh Acclaim sucked. Anything they developed was garbage. The Mortal Kombat home series was a joke compared to what it could've been, the only thing that saved it was it was a solid game they were porting.

The only thing I give them credit for was bringing over some great stuff from Japan. Bust a Move, Galactic Attack and a few other oddball japanese games. But for every great game they brought over they created 10 absolutely horrible games.

When Interplay went out of business it was a tragedy, when Acclaim went under it was good riddance.

Some neat stuff there though, wish I lived in the area. Woulnd't mind getting my hands on some of the editing equipment!

So since the company has disappeared, who makes all the profit from all the Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance that are still selling at stores I wonder. I vaguely recall an article saying that game was supposed to save the company or something to that effect.

As I understood, the 'studio' is one guy. Maybe I'm wrong but I think D3D is being put out by pretty much that single person.

really? I didn't know that...Duke Nukem was made by a single person? Wow!

acclaim didnt own the Mortal Kombat license. nor do they own the bust a move license.

they publish (probably did develop the conversions also ) MK for game consoles back in the 16-bit age. Now Midway is a force in the console arena and can publish themselves. Acclaim merely was a distributor for Midway back then.

Bust a move, same thing, Taito is the developer in Japan for this game. Acclaim publish it for them here in North America.

There arent really that many great games coming from Acclaim themselves. Especially not after the 32-bit age arrived.
