Hey guys. It's the new year, and I really want to be better with my accounts this year... What do you guys use for accounting? Should I do a free/paid software? Or just suck it up and pay someone? What is best?
I have used Quicken for personal/home finance for years (after Microsoft Money went away ). I keep renewing it every few years (if you don't then it stops downloading bank transactions) mostly because I have so many years of history recorded in its file. I'm not sure I'd start using it today.
For business, I use Quickbooks. Rather than hire an accountant, I decided to let Quickbook teach me how to set up a reasonably solid set of accounts when I started my consulting business. That has turned out to be a good decision (so far....).
For a business?
I use QuickBooks, but I also have a out sourced bookkeeper that helps out and checks everything over.
