I wouldn't bet on that.

It's a tough call, but I'd have to go overall, with Guns n Roses.

AC/DC is kickass. They only have maybe 3 songs that they've written over and over and over, but they are kickass songs.
They have been around longer, so that works in their favor....but I'd be willing to bet that if GnR had been steadily recording for 20 years, this likely wouldn't even be a fair comparison.

As it stands, GnR only released 3 albums of new material...if you can call Use Your Illusion 1 and 2 separate albums. Very strong showing with that small amount of new material.
Lies was not all new material, and Spaghetti Incident was an all-cover album.

So 3 actual studio albums, with Appetite being the biggest selling debut album ever...or it was, maybe someone's surpassed it by now.

So I guess you could say that AC/DC might win by virtue of really never letting up for over 30 years, or you could argue that Guns was the better band overall not accounting for longevity.

Okay, I can see Zeppelin on top for sure. But Sabbath at #2? Nirvana even in the top 10?

I know a lot of younger kids won't consider The Who a hard rock band, but you have to know what was considered hard rock in their day.

I'd love to see what people today would have thought of people like Hendrix, Morrison, Cobain, Joplin, etc., if they hadn't died in their prime and been granted legendary status for not living long enough to become unpopular. I've always thought that Nirvana would have been back to playing clubs by now if Cobain had lived....and if not that low, at most they would have been just another decent grunge metal band that was still doing okay.

We are comparing apples to oranges here,GNR is not even in AC/DC's class, yes they were a good band but there is no way in hell they even come close to AC/DC's popularity, staying power, albums sold etc,etc,etc.

If album sales were an indicator of superiority then think about the fact that GNR had the highest selling debut album of all time.

I guess quality is not as important as quanity in your opinion in terms of how many albums were released.

GNR first got together over twenty years ago, so how is that an indicator of which is better?

GNR is still together, just with a different line-up. There has also been a line-up change in ACDC if I remember correctly.

How long ACDC has been around isn't really a measure of which is better.

GNR have not been around for twenty five years, hence they can't get inducted into the hall of fame yet. So I don't know how that could possibly be a strike against them.

If you want to talk about album sales, have ACDC ever occupied the number one and two possitions on the billboard charts? I don't think so.

So before acting like ACDC is God's gift to music, why don't you try comparing the the lyrics or musicianship. Oh wait I forgot, a song like For Those about to Rock pwns a song like Welcome to the Jungle.:roll:
