That strikes me as the kind of argument a lawyer makes when he's out of options and knows it.

"Your honor, he couldn't have murdered this person, because he was somewhere else killing a totally different person."

I wonder what Facebook Group Torsell will be joining now? No more, "My Blood alcohol Content... Is Higher Than My GPA."

Maybe now it'd be, "I've spent more years in prison than in college."

Justice was finally served, an irresponsible, selfish, arrogant driver is off the roads, but at a very high price.

The jury in the trial of Anthony Torsell, who was charged with driving drunk and striking two men downtown in October 2006, found him guilty of all charges, returning its final verdict at just after 5 p.m.

Request for sticky.

I can't say I knew the guy, traded with the guy, or PM'd the guy. But I'm sad to see when forum members leave us not on their terms.

A lot more info

Wish we could find what he was exactly charged with. I'm sure it's Vehicular Manslaughter, which can range from 1 to 15 years depending on if it was a misdemeanor or felony charge. He also has the DUI charge and the one for the other guy Rick was with (probably negligent vehicular assault which carries around 6 months - 2 years).

Im sure his lawyer and family/friends influenced this decision. Still, he could have plead guilty and saved everyone some time and money.

I've lurked here since '01 and remember this thread. All I have to say is he should find out the pain that ace's family has gone through, and what the man who's scarred for life is going through now.

uh, isn't it common for people accused of a crime to plead innocent? IANAL, but I'd think that you plead guilty if you want to plea bargain, and you plead innocent if you want a trial to argue your case...that said, I'm happy that he was found guilty.

He won't. Ever. Unless some pther drunk runs over a close family member of his. Which would be a whole other tragedy in itself.

Self Denial. 'It wasn't me it was the alcohol.'

I'm glad to see that he was found guilty. I hope he gets 10-20 years of SPMITAP to learn the lesson.
for Ace.
