I felt a great sense of relief when I got the news; I think justice has been served as much as it now can be for Rick. I'm almost certain I've thought of him every day since his death and I really hope that, wherever he is now, he is at peace. I don't remember if I ever posted it, but a lot comments of sympathy from the original thread were printed out for the funeral, so your support was felt by many others.

Be safe out there.

I have nothing to say other than I'm glad that this has been put to rest. The world lost a truly wonderful person last year and words cannot express how much he meant to his friends. Like phoenix said, be safe please.

Torsell guilty on all counts

By Collegian Staff Writers

The jury in the trial of Anthony Torsell, who was charged with driving drunk and striking two men downtown in October 2006, found him guilty of all charges, returning its final verdict at just after 5 p.m.

Torsell was convicted of vehicular homicide while driving under the influence, aggravated assault while driving under the influence and three counts of driving under the influence.

Torsell, now 21, a Bellefonte native and former Penn State student, was charged with critically injuring Penn State student Aaron Stidd and killing Richard Smith, a visitor to State College.

The verdict ended six and a half hours of jury deliberation, which began at 10:30 this morning following closing arguments from both attorneys.

Lets hope sentencing is quick and appropriate.

I am so glad this guy was found guilty. I have had quite a few friends that argue with me that a few beers is ok to drive on. Everytime I hear them say that I think of Ace. If I even take a sip of alcohol I wont drive. It's just not fn worth it.

I was in a so-so mood today. This pushed me to a great mood.

"Guilty on all accounts."
I never thought I'd wish to hear this about somebody this badly.

Glad this asshole got what he had coming to him. I hope he rots in jail.

RIP Richard.

Anyone know how his friend is doing? Did he pull through? Was he able to witness this?

Article

It says he's still in rehab and dependent on others, but is apparently acting relatively normal again, with a ways to go, and was able to attend the trial as well.

Six hours to convict? Either there were some idiots on the jury or some folks held out for the catered lunch and dinner.

Six hours is pretty fast. I would suspect a jury that comes back in less than a few hours and did not weigh all the evidence first. I am just glad that justice seems to have been served in this case.

RIP acemcmac

Catered lunch? I never got that as a juror.

Good to see he was convicted, sentencing on vehicular homicide should net him a few years in prison.

I can't say that I've read many touching posts on message boards, but this is a tough one.

I hope the guy who did this lives a life of pain and suffering every waking moment. I'm so sick of people who casually drive drunk and joke about how hammered they were the night before driving home.

Take care in the afterlife.
