Was there an update on how the lawsuit went? I'm curious.

I think of this thread when looking at sunrises too.

I search for updates periodically. I have not come across an update on the lawsuit yet.

Thanks Mosh.

Hello everyone. Today is the anniversary of this terrible event. I will be taking a moment of silence for my friend Rick in remembrance today. I hope that everyone who knew him has the opportunity to take some time to remember and reflect on how Rick affected their life as well. It's amazing to see this thread still getting posts three years later, and a testament to how great of a person acemcmac was.

As for the lawsuit, Torsell was convicted on September 26th, 2007. http://anthonytorsell.com/

Sad that he'll only be in there for a few years for what he did, then gets to go on with his life.

Every time I decide to go out drinking I think of Rick. I always make sure that there is DD and I gladly volunteer if no one else will.

RIP

what determines the length of his sentence? It needs to be more harsh. Everyone needs to know there will be little to no 2nd chance if you are stupid with alcohol.

Still thinking of you Rick and the short time you had here. The uniqueness of your personality and the endearing qualities that, even though must of us only got to experience on this messageboard, has made us continue to care and remember you.

I still think of Ace sometimes. When I listen to Aeroplane Over the Sea I think of this thread. It's my favorite song now, and I had never heard of it before this happened. It'll always remind me of him

He has it way better than ... while we worry about the stock market, the gfs, this gadget or that gadget, drama here, drama there, he's just chilling up there.

I would say it was due to the fact that the kids crossing the street were jailwalking - a drunk driver plowing into some people on a sidewalk is more at fault than a drunk driver plowing people that are crossing the street on a red light.

I'm not totally familiar with the details of what happened, but 11 years is pretty damn harsh for a vehicular homicide that isn't completely slam-dunk. The jailwalking part was something that his lawyer should've focused on.

Sentenced!

5 years and 8 months.

Its just too bad that 3 lives had to end that day. I can tell you that he will be haunted by the death and injury of these people for the rest of his life, and rightfully so. Some mistakes we never get done paying for. Thats good and bad.

He had a BAC of ~.25 at the time of his arrest. I think that's pretty bad unto itself: Text. He was going way too fast for the area as well....
