Wow.... I'm speechless I dont know what to say. I live right off of Atherton street, and to think last night i was relaxing at my friends apartment within a mile from where this happened. I didnt know Richard but like everyone else I read his posts and i recognize his name. RIP good sir, you will be missed.

I just got home from a long day at work. This news was not what I had looked forward to tonight.

If Rick could talk about the drawbacks of drunk driving, I'm sure what many in this thread have said, would be his thoughts. When we are young, we feel so invincible, but yet do not see how fragile, and temporary life really is. So sad, when one of our own is brought down.

Richard, you will be missed. Rest in peace!

SIGH. huge huge tragedy. Most everyone here are good people, or at least people with good intentions to live out honest, work-filled/career, familial, and respectable lives.

It sucks that one of our peers' life was cut short due to the negligence of another. This is extremely unfortunate, and very very sad. All I can say is that, AceMcMac was a recognizable poster from my point of view; so even though I have never met the guy in real life, he's still a living person who probably lead/willlead similar lives as the rest of us (there's always something common that has brought everyone to this board). I hate it when people who will live potentially successful and happy lives have their lives cut short like this.

That other thread about sunrise + this is really surreal, and sad. You did not die unrecognized.

Thanks to the OP for letting us know. I'm pretty new to the forums, but remembered the name immediately when I saw it at the top of the thread.

PLEASE, if you have ever driven when you have been drinking, even a little, keep things like this in mind. Anthony Torsell certainly will. Just imagine living with that for the rest of your life. Call a cab or designate a driver, every time.

My condolences for Richard's family and friends. He will be missed.

Also, a quick recovery for Aaron Stidd, I hope the injuries were not serious.

While many of us will never meet each other in person, there is certainly a comradery in the forums that brings us all together. It really hurts to hear news like this.

Been trying to gather my thoughts here, I'm kinda stunned. I must have logged off the forums tonight just before this news hit us, and trundled off to bed. Then, suddenly, about a half hour or so ago (it's now 4:17am here) I woke up and had to log on. Weird.

Like so many here, I knew of but didn't know ace that well personally, until our paths crossed more directly about 10 day ago, after which he had the idea to have an ATOT Philly meet.

He sure seemed like a damned decent guy, and his pic, which I just got to see, certainly reinforces that in spades.

What can I say? His senseless death saddens and angers me in hot running turns. Life goes by in a goddamn eyeblink.

Ace, at least you got to see the sunrise, my found and lost friend! Fierte Gott!

Alien avatar in his honor. I can't believe it...I've only been somewhat active in these forums for the last few weeks but he is someone I always recognized in threads, one of those who was always there with his opinion on everything. I hate this, why did the driver get to live? What if they had been there 5 seconds later or sooner? Why?

I'm still blown away by this. I read his post and I always liked how he had taken control of his life and really pushed to become someone. To see it all lost because of an idiot driver just makes me feel low. Low to the point of feeling sick. Why him? Why take someone who obviously had so much going for him?

I hope that Ace's family can find peace, but I know it will be awhile to get to that point. Such a horrible tragedy finds me really rethinking my priorities and life. I wish the best to his family and friends. I am so very sorry for your loss.
