So, are you guys who bought the monitor pretty happy with it? I saw it last night on display at my local Staples (out of stock) and they had a crappy photo displayed on it (instead of a nice moving screen saver) and it didn't look so good.

How are the colors? Does it give off a crisp, sharp display? Are you guys happy with it?

Are all of the monitors DVI? To me it looks like they all have the option of going either DVI or VGA. Is that accurate? Do these monitors actually come with two cables--one DVI, one VGA? Could I use that VGA cable as an extension cable for another monitor?

(I'm gonna try another Staples that has a couple in stock right after they open using one of the new $30 off $150 coupons that came in the newspaper yesterday.)

I got one. Only was able to use 12% + easy rebate but still a good deal.

Monitor has nice color, sharp text and no ghosting that I could tell. Haven't tried a DVD yet. Mine was a DVI version and had both DVI and VGA cables. Don't think you can use it for an extension without an adapter. Other posts indicate that not all are getting a DVI version. YMMV.

Got one for a relative, very timely hot deal, thanks a lot 1Cheap2Crazy.

My store had plenty of the DVI models right up front. The $30 off $150 coupon was also right on the front desk. I had no problem using the $30 off $150 and the 12% off coupons (she even gave that back to me to reuse) but I wasn't allowed to stack a $3 (ink cartridge return) coupon as well. Net cost will be $155-not bad for an LCD with DVI that you can carry with one figure. Big difference from the burnt out CRT that I will be lugging to the curb.

Edit: PS: My box clearly says this is an 8bit screen.

Pick one up last night. Very satisfied with the picture quality of this monitor. No pixel issues at all. It is on par with my NEC LC1735NX. I'm using DVI. It comes with all cables and there's no power block. Mine is silver. I had a $50 certificate from when a laptop I ordered for Christmas was not delivered in time... so my total was $250 - $50 (SER) -$30 (30off150) - $50 (certificate) + $15 (tax) = $135.

For a 19" LCD with good specs and good picture.... no complaints, except I probably would have preferred black ... I would definitely recommend this monitor as a sub-$200 19" LCD.

Really thinking about this. Can anyone comment pn how it does playing games? I know the Samsung (12ms analog) I got from Staples on Black Friday isn't that great for games so I use it with my second PC. But thinking about this for my gaming pc to replace a CRT.
What is the max refresh rate at 1280x1024?
Thanks

SCORED on 2nd try.

At the first Staples they wouldn't let me stack the 12% and the $30 off. But at the second Staples my cashier was a friendly old lady (must have been at least 75) and she let me use both of them and thought I'd gotten a great price. Hope she doesn't get in trouble. Won't be able to test it out for a couple hours though since I need to do some work-from-home stuff.

My score:

$250 - $30 off (used that first) - 12% off ($26.40--not complaining) - $6 Staples rewards + 6% sales tax = just under $199 out-the-door - $2 (credit card rebate) = $197 - $50 Easy Rebate = $147. I figure that with the energy I'll save over my 5 year old Envision 19" CRT that it will pay for part of itself.

Hope I don't have any dead pixels or anything.

Oh--and in answer to my earlier query--you CANNOT use that VGA cable as a VGA extension cable because it's male at both ends (well, not without an adapter). Sucks.

Just set up the one I got last night, and I must say I'm pretty impressed. The colors are bright and vivid, and the monitor physically looks nice. The user will just be using it for browsing, etc., so no real demands on it, but it's an excellent buy for aprox. $155 (with tax).

One question-this replaced a anicent, almost dead 17" CRT on a Windows XP Home Dell box-VGA not DVI connection used. For some reason full screen mode on solitaire, browser windows, etc. now only seems to fill 2/3 the screen. Changing the resolution doesn't seem to affect this. I have it set at a lower resolution (800 x 600 I think) for the elderly eyes involved. Any ideas how to fix this-it's probably something simple I'm overlooking.

BTW, I couldn't find any drivers on the enclosed CD. I downloaded and installed ones from the Acer site, but frankly the text seems clearer (esp. at higher resolutions) with the generic Microsoft driver. I may switch back.

Go into the advanced driver properties (where you'd see temps, color correction, etc.) and there should be a submenu that involves digital/DVI. When using a digital input the drivers are able to scale everything on the LCD to keep the picture from filling the whole screen and distorting, that's probably what's happening on your monitor.

Most stores are out of the Acer. I ordered mine at the kiosk with the help at the store manager. Mine came to $154 after rebate/coupons.

YOu can get this 19 inch for the same price $199.99A/R if you really need an lcd monitor

What newspaper would that be and in which section?

I stopped by my local Staples last night. Holland, MI.
They had a stack of the monitors, with a sign on top advertising the $199 after rebate price. I took one to the counter, the cashier rang it up, added the 12% coupon, and the $30 off of $150 coupon, and she was happy to try the other $20 coupon from the website, but it wouldn't work.
I paid $205 and change out the door, and am submitting the EZ Rebate tonight.
Mine was the DVI model. I may go back and buy another one.
Thanks for a great deal 1Cheap2Crazy.

I bought my monitor on the 25th, forgot to bring the coupons with me but luckily someone there had the $20 off $100 on hand and gave it to me. So I picked it up for $241 that day, and just printed out the 12% off coupon and brought it back in today to see if I could get the difference credited back, the manager OK'd it, and I ended up getting it for $212 OTD, $162 AR. Much thanks OP, I'm moving soon and it'll be nice to bring this 19" LCD rather than my 17" CRT.

EDIT: Just hooked it up tonight, and I get no signal when using DVI. It works when I hook it up via VGA, and it works through a DVI-VGA adapter from my video card, so I don't think the DVI output on my card is bad, most likely the one on the monitor. I hope they have stock for an exchange, I don't wanna have to RMA this thing. This is the 3rd defective product I've bought within the past 2 weeks or so, wtf.

Hard to say, my Acer screen has a better viewing angle than the ones I had at work(new 1907s). Both are 6bit from what I've gathered. On those If I'm looking straight on, the upper half of the screen will be noticeably dark and the lower portion will be noticeably light. Only the middle third was relatively accurate. It was bad enough that I had to swap them with a co-worker so I could use them will Illustrator and Photoshop. I never checked the manufacturer (samsung, lg, etc), but it seems to be a crap shoot with the dells.

That said this deal should be almost dead. The $30 off expired yesterday(though some stores may honour it for a day or two) and I'm not sure how long the monitor deal was for.

Before RMA'ing it, be sure to check that the monitor is set up for DVI versus VGA. There is a setting in the on-screen display menu to toggle between VGA and DVI, make sure it is set to DVI. The quick start menu explains how to do this.

The only problem is I get no signal at all when using DVI, so there's no way to get into the OSD. If I hook up both the VGA and DVI and then go into the OSD and try to switch to digital it just reverts right back to VGA. I'm pretty sure I just got a defective unit.
