I purchased an Acer 17" ~6 months ago and I had to return it due to terrible color banding. It looked like the thing was running in 16-bit color. Hopefully the quality has improved.

I got an Acer 19" 16ms a while back (for about $400). The first one worked, then suddenly a whole block of pixels messed up, about a 2" wide vertical line. That was after a few minutes of use. The replacement has been perfect. No DVI, but looks better than my CTX 17" monitor with DVI.
