Ugh, this is so tempting. I was at a LAN party the other day, and I realized that I was the only one still using a CRT. Lugging a 40lb monitor around isn't fun. I'm jut worried that I'll be disappointed in the colors because it's 6bit.

MC has BM stores and as a result huge overhead that keeps their prices higher than online only e-tailers.
But in any case I will get it from local MC: no shipping charges and I can return it any time I want. And I am driving by MC every day.

MC some time has a better price than the egg. You have to get their specials. And for those like Ark who can drive by their local MC, this is a no brainer. Exchange, warranty, refunds, price adjustments etc...
This Acer 22" is an exceptional deal. It used the Chimei (one of the biggest OEM panel producer) panel 22" that it is rumored to be used by Dell in their next 22" LCD offering.
The 1680X1050 resolution is perfect for text, color is fabulous (although it has only 6 panels simulated to be 8 panel color which I cannot tell the difference), response time is excellent for gamers, in addition for very high contrast ratio.
The Dell 2407 is 2"diagonal bigger and according to experts, better, but is it worth the double cost is for you to determine.
The Viewsonic VX2235 also uses the same Chimei panel, identical specs, 3 year warranty instead of 1 for the Acer. It is also rumored that Acer makes the electronics for Viewsonic.
I prefer the Viewsonic, mostly because of cosmetics and a built-in stereo speaker. But the best price for the Viewsonic that I can find is $350 and it is sold out at my local warehouse.
According to Microcenter, Acer has 3 year warrantyThe Viewsonic VX2235 also uses the same Chimei panel, identical specs, 3 year warranty instead of 1 for the Acer.
Wow! You sir are a hardcore nerd . . .
