Looks like it has a standard MicroATX board and power connector.

I ordered one today and the rep didn't say anything about being out of stock. Supposed to ship 8/8. We'll see. Also came with no tax being a phone order and free standard shipping. All the stores listed in my area said out of stock, so who knows. I may have gotten a rep that didn't know they were out, so anything's possible. Total was 339.00 and some change.

Picked up mine and got the Viewsonic 1912 widescreen LCD out the door for $404 and change! Now hoping the $80 worth of rebates won't be a hassle for an excellent deal! One thing the salesman at CC told me is this setup won't work with Vista due to the Sempron processor, but I'm not sure he was correct about that, but even still XP works fine for me.

One problem I noticed with my receipt is my name was mispelled, they had an "A" instead of an "E" in my last name. Will this be a problem especially for the rebate? I asked them once they rang up the receipt, but they told me to just cross out the name and correct it or use one of those sticky address labels. But I can see them kicking that out since it will look shady. Any advice? Maybe I should have had them void that and ring it up again with the correct spelling just to be sure, but I was in a rush.

Does anyone know if this case will take the 120 mm fan or just the standard 80 mm case fan?

Im planning on purchasing an evga 7600gt with an antec smartpower 500w PSU, any thoughts on how this sempron system will benefit with these added components? Are you guys adding anything to this system?

All comments welcome, thanks.

Bought this one for my daughter, installed a Chanitek 6600GT w/NV Silencer. Runs great. Doesn't need a ps upgrade, IMO.

To anwser some of your questions.
I bought this 1 a week ago from CC and paid $367.18 with tax and NO rebate.(upstate NY lots of tax)
Got the Acer AL1716 , 17 in. mon included.
Acer says it IS VISTA READY as is.
With the FAT issue on the drive - the supplied backup program ONLY works with FAT NOT NTFS,,,,bummer,,,,,
It will run ANY 939 prossesor,,,,,,,cool,,,,,,,
Ran Prime95 NO problem.
Scored 2331 on PcMark05 free ,,,STOCK,,,not bad,,,,,
One strange thing ,,,,,,
IT IS SILENT ,,,
This new Nvidia/AMD cooling tech is spooky.
No case fan at all, just the heatsink fan and the only time I can get it to run is when it does its test at startup.
All the temps are just about room temp ? Like I said , spooky.
It has the 6100/400 chipset in it .
Am I happy with it ? So far ,VERY

I'm still kinda pissy about missing the $150 + ($139 or more for a monitor) Acer Sempron deal with no rebates! Jack@ss at the store said they were all out and tried to charge me $160 more to upgrade to an XP64 3500+ chip. Lady on the 800 number also said sold out.

thanks HomeAppraiser - it was linked over on FW that the deal was back, but no combo link to confirm.

EDIT: it looks like the monitor substituting is dead - reports over at FW indicate that subbing any monitor destroys the combo price, jacking the overall deal to well over $600. too bad, i really wanted one of these...

I am just going to sell the 17" LCD since we don't need another monitor right now.

:disgust: Called and they have 5 in-stock, but they won't let me buy it over the phone!

Well HomeAppraisersWife and our 10.5 year old are off making the 70 mile trek to the nearest CC. My son has my permission to throw a royal sh!t fit in the store if they are out.

Damn, HomeAppraisersWife can drive fast when HomeAppraiser is not in the car

She is getting the bundle with 17" LCD and the EVGA card now.

I was in CC today and was told it would work with any monitor. That the deal is in the system to work with any monitor $90-$9999 or something like that.

hi again, just wanted to let you all know this deal is alive and well...

ended up paying as follows (after $40 coupon):

computer: $161.04
monitor: $178.94
tax: $24.99
total OTD: $364.97

subtract $80 in rebates

total AR: $284.97

have the CSR ring the computer up first (item # is ACA-AST160US321H on my ticket)- it should come up at a promo price of $179. then add the monitor (item # VWS VA1912WB) and it should come up at $199 (don't know why). then take your $40 coupon and have them enter that, the $40 will be deducted when you checkout/pay.

hope this helps everyone, good luck! i'm very impressed with the package so far, although now i need to find a cheap PCI-e card so that I can hook this up to my projector and replace my existing (loud) htpc!!!!

I usually stay away from rebates, but this is a good deal even before rebates. So, to the rebate experts:

If I were to buy two of these systems, what all do I have to do to get both sets of rebates?

Purchase one at a time.
Pay cash for at least one of them.
Send one rebate to yourself, and the other one to a family member, at a DIFFERENT address.

I've been doing that for years.

Thanks. I'm assuming you pay cash for one so that there's no name on the receipt(s)?

Well, I'll have to thank everyone on this thread, particularly the "brown bag man"

every worked smooth at CC - just followed suggested steps in the posts

Requested theAcer 160U w/ $50 upgrade to Acer 17" monitor = $339.98 (after $220 instant savings).

Then upgraded to the View Sonic VA1912WB (19" wide screen with DVI) = 184.66 - (I just paid the difference bettween the sales price of the 17" Acer and the 19" viewsonic ($40 diff, but viewsonic had a $30 rebate - so really only a $10 diff !)

Then applied the $40 off coupon - (the junor sales clerk had already gone back twice to the manager on the monitor upgrade - when he scratch his head and was thinking of a third visit, I quickly suggested that he try scanning it in, if the system accepts it, it would be valid. IT did, and both of us were happy!).

at the register, got two rebates $30 & $50

$155.32 system
$184.66 19" flat screen
$339.98 subtotal
$17 tax
$356.98
-$30 rebate
-$50 rebate

$276.98 !

Not to sabby!

thanks all

Its $90 AR at CC.

We picked that up at the same time and installed it last nite. I added a case fan since it is only a passively cooled card. First time we tried to install it said "System does not meet requirements for the graphics card" or something like that. Tried to trouble shoot it for an hour and got pissed off. HomeAppraisersWife ran thru the install and it worked, go figure.

Image quality and shading is better than our old AGP 6600GT with DDR3, but I think the frame rates are slightly lower because the 7600GS only has DDR2. Temps started at 58C and topped off at 65C after three hours of City of Heros.

The CC price after rebates is currently lower than NewEgg or any other sites I found.
