Acer monitor "Out of Range"

I have a problem with my acer monitor blanking out and saying out of range. It says this right before my user login menu appears. Does anyone know what the problem is? And how to fix it.

It all started when a friend set a picture as a background from a website. Then all of a sudden the screen went blank and it did this everytime before the user login.

Sounds like your screen resolution might be set too high. Can you get in using Safe Mode?

yeah, it sounds like incorrect video settings for your monitor. Go into Safe mode, right click on desktop, Properties, settings tab. Change the settings to 800x600, 16-bit color, and the lowest Refresh rate (60Hz probably) in the Advanced Options. Then in normal mode you can change it back to your liking. If this doesn't work, go back into safe mode and uninstall your monitor driver from the list in Device Manager. If 'Monitors' is not listed, then uninstall your video card driver. It will be redetected on booting up in normal mode and it should automatically give you some appropriate screen settings.

This should work

Try a bigger rifle. .50 cal. is accurate well past 1 mi. and packs enough punch to take out that demon-spawn with one shot. Happy hunting!

Cool...glad it's sorted....did you get these things done as well?

Often times the safemode display properties trick will not work.

What will work is going to msconfig and then boot.ini, then turning on the base video mode.

This will only work in XP though.
