Question acer monitor....white is a very light grey

I have an ACER ED323QUR A (2560x1440@144Hz) that can not display white.

I have tried forever to set it including using calman with an older spyder unit and the best it gives is a bright grey.

Is this a crap monitor?

PS I tried installing the factory monitor driver and of course windows 10 knows better and refuses to install it.
keeing the 2009 generic driver instead.

people say uninstall the driver and reboot but when I do it just installs the default generic driver and gives me no options.

any ideas are more than welcome

finally got the correct monitor driver installed. it made no difference to the colors. white is still light grey

I have the same monitor. Are you using Display Port or HDMI?

nvidia 1080 with display port. Tried all ports and same thing. I am using the cable that came with the monitor.

I think you should try a different cable. I prefer display port cables, but HDMI for testing purposes in your case.

thanks for the idea...if hdmi makes any difference I will order a new dpi cable.

Tried 2 different hdmi cables and same thing. Tried a different monitor ( brand and size, my old 27 in) and white is white this is with a dvi cable.

this is windows 10 and I noticed something in nvidia control panel...desktop color...in nvidia control mode I can drag the slider to full gama or brightness and the image is washed out 2 seconds later the picture is right back where it was, but the slider does not move. So what else can be controling the picture???
I have calman profile unloaded and turned off.
