Acer P243W 24" LCD Monitor

I can't seem to find any site reviews on this monitor.
Maybe not the P243WAid specifically, but even the vanilla P243W.
I'm not sure what the difference is, but it should be minor.
I'm really interested in getting this as a gaming monitor and all I've read are user reviews.
Most, if not all, of which have been great.

Keep in mind that I like glossy panels and don't mind using a TN.

Is there anyone that can find a link to a site review or can give me some definitive information on this monitor?

A friend purchased one, cheap. After spending a little time with it, I have to say it was priced right. Unexceptional in every aspect. Fairly inconsistent backlighting was annoying. More so than the usual color shifting TN viewing angles. The glossy crystalbrite coating possibly improved the horizontal viewing angle, except the backlight was too inconsistent to say for sure.

However, it's an Acer and with their ubiquitous distribution you should be able to play with one in person at almost any store in the mall.

I have the P243, although I haven't messed with it much, if you have some questions about it. I can't find any differences listed between it and the P243Waid.

Right now it is being used as a photo display for a trade show. I fiddled around with it for about an hour, but didn't get a chance to play any games on it.

First off it is a TN panel, so I'll start with the known drawbacks on it.

Colors: The dithering method seems to be implemented well. I didn't notice any banding or funky off shades.

Response Time & Input Lag: It is listed as having a 3ms GTG response time, and it seems pretty spot on. Input lag, if anything, is considerably less than one frame. I didn't see any ghosting, and I didn't notice any "twinkling" during video playback.

It seems like a good monitor for the money, and I don't particular like TN panels. The only defect mine came with is one dead pixel.

I'm liking what I'm hearing and seeing about it so far, except that quite a few people have been getting them with dead pixels...

I hope that if I buy one from all the way in Jamaica, I'm one of the lucky one to not get any...

Sounds really really great for the price.

Have you any experience with the Westinghouse L2410NM?
It is about the same price. I like the Acer more but are you able to say which is really "better"?

Many that bought X243s at Best Buy are reporting MVA panels. The L2410NM is also a VA variant panel
with a slew of input options. If my choices are between the P243, X243, and L2410NM, the L2410NM would
easily be my first choice.

I have continued to read the user reviews on Newegg, and I think there are too many complaints about stuck and dead pixels for my liking.

Yet the still continue to give it 5 eggs...
