They can be fun. The highest score I have is for Viva Pinata (8xx) points.

I couldn't care less about them. I have only beat two games(COD4 and Gears of War) this gen, and have had a 360 since launch. Same goes for PSN trophies, do not care.

For a console? I don't like them because they aren't going to give you anything extra. TF2 for the PC, you get weapons for having a certain amount of achievements and it makes it more fun to try for the achievements.

Depends on the game as it does with PC games. Uncharted on the PS3 for example gives you all kinds of bonuses for getting medals. Of course, it had medals before the trophies were in implemented, but when the trophy patch was added they simply made all the medals be the trophies too.

Don't really care. It's something extra to do alright, but unless you actually get something out of it (e.g. MGS4), I could do without. Guess it's nice to know you accomplished something someone took the time to think up while on the toilet though.

I don't care about them. I won't try to get them just to get them. Only thing I really use them for on the 360 is to see how far my friends have gotten in various games.

They definitely add replay value. I went through and replayed Uncharted after they added trophies to it. Great game.

I have played games for the sole reason of getting achievements. I don't do that anymore but for a while a buddy and I had an unspoken competition of who could rack up the most. I think they're a phenominal idea. I too thought they'd be silly when I first heard of 'em, now I think whoever came up with the idea at M$ needs a raise...

Yeah, I'll agree with that. If I have to go way out of my way to get them they can get annoying, but if it's something I can do along the way (say, get 4 headshots in a row or knife 3 people in a row) then I'm all for it. Or even a "get through the game using only X weapon" it'll add a challenge, but as you said, "find all the flags" etc is a waste of time, especially since there's like 500 of 'em. Same with the "get 10,000 kills" achievements.

Gears kinda hacked me off in that respect, 99.5% of the time I'm doing non-ranked matches, I promise you I've got enough kills to get every weapons-based achievement yet they're all in player matches and I had no desire whatsoever to play ranked.

My first 1000/1000 was GH: Aerosmith. Usually there are 1 or 2 achievments that are just way too hard to get... which is fine with me, that's what makes them cool and gives you some sense of accomplishment when you get them. I never would've gotten 325k on Train Kept Rolling in GH:A if it weren't the last acheivement unlocked... that made me work at that song until I was able to get that kind of score. Otherwise I'd have stopped when I got a 5 star score and called it a day... that kind of achievment is great and it makes you feel good when you get it. I agree 100% about dumb achievments though, and I don't care for the achievments that you get just for reaching a point in the game. I like achievments that are fun to go after in addition to playing through the game... I already feel an achievment for beating a section of a game without the game giving me an attaboy. I can't wait to play Fable II, their achievment list looks great I'm currently working on getting all the Fable II minigame achievements. Just can't seem to get that darn spinnerbox win (100x your bet).
