I just got my MSI i815E Pro mobo, installed my 700E - clocked to 945 right out of the box, default voltage. Then when I tried to pull off the stupid stock HSF to slap on my gorb, one of the plastic extrusion tips on the socket broke off. I used plastic cement to stick it back on the socket, and then a very thin layer of epoxy around the crack. Would this method be adequate in making this socket still useful? If it isn't, I'm thinking of just ripping the pins and clip off my gorb, and use arctic silver epoxy right on the CPU, I'm not planning on replacing it anytime soon, and the cost of the gorb isn't really an issue here. Gimme your thoughts please!
Thanks!
