Ok, here is the main problem I am having.

I just installed a new Asus A7n8x into my lone system at home, and 9 times out of 10 I get a BSOD when installing it, the main one is : C000021a {Fatal System Error}; but sometimes I get Bad_Pool_Caller or IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal or even just a Stop Error.

Now whats confused me is that these are THE EXACT same issues I had with my ECS k7s5a board that i previously had on this system. Here is everything that I have done in the year I have had this system.

1. When I was first getting the Page Fault and IRQL errors with my ECS board, I was told it could be a driver conflict or PSU. I had the PSU replaced from a generic 250W PSU to a Sparkle 300W, it made my system marginally better, still had errors but the frequency seemed to lower.

2. I upgraded to DDR memory from SDram as some people were telling me that the board was finicky with Memory, I bought some Nanya 2100 DDR, again, it seemed a bit better, but then progressively got worse.

3. I upgraded my sound and video from Onboard Sound and generic cheap video card to Sound Blaster Audigy and GeForce 3ti200. I had planned on doing these things when i got my system, and I got good deals on both. I was still having the same issues.

4. I Upgraded the PSU to an Antec Tru-Power PSU (330w?), my father-in-law and I built him a system and he had gotten a case with that PSU in it, but wanted an even better PSU (400W) so he gave me that one for the help.

5. I bought some Crucial DDR, as I was told that the issues I was still continuning to have could be memory related. Again, it didnt seem any different with just the crucial so I used both modules in my system.

6. I was reinstallig windows again from scratch just to make sure all odd conflicts could be removed and for the first time I began to see the {Fatal System Error} on start-ups, It would start up clean 1 out of 3 times, and work fairly well other than that.

7. Someone suggested to me that it still could be Memory related, I did run some memory benchmarks on my system and they came back fine. I then was goofing around and disabled Virtual Memory on my system, and it actually got better in operation.

8. I replace my HD as some people said that sounded like the problem as virtual memory resides on the HD. Well I got a new HD, and the same {fatal system error} occured again.

9. I decided to return the HD and order a new main board, as I felt that was the next logical place to go, I got the ASUS board, and was having alot of problems, figured it was either Bios or Driver related, but was having a terrible time getting Windows to even load into the system (decided to do a clean install), finally I got it up and running, disabled the auto-restart on error, and guess what... I still have the SAME {Fatal System Error} along with a bunch of Bad Pools and IRQL etc.

I am at wits end, my wife is ready to kill me, as every one of these steps that involved spending more money, I prefaced with "This should fix the problem"

Right now here is my system:

Athlon 1700xp (not sure what core it is probably an "A" from Jan 2002)
WD 20g HD
Toshiba DVD
Sony CD RW
GeForce 3Ti200 (I havnt been able to put these drivers on, just using XP VGA driver right now)

I have switched out cables everytime I used something new, so I know they are not the issues, I don't think its Temp related, my ECS ran at about 50-53 under load, sometimes a bit higher, but that was due to a warm room... Temps on Bios for the Asus show around 38 at 100/100.

So where do I go? Could it be my CPU? Still Memory? Or?

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

You don't have to tell me... I am so close to throwing the whole system out the window... too bad I am only on the ground floor of my building, and it would shatter into bits on impact, so its not worth the effort.

but seriously, anyone got any ideas for me?

I may have to go back to my ECS board, because, at least THAT system I had it all working well except for this FATAL ERROR issue, which was annoying, but i could USE the system but the ASUS is plagued with other conflicts that I need to resolve, but its IMPOSSIBLE with all the BSOD's... I was up running for 10 minutes once last night, other than that, no more than 2 minutes.
