Ack! My chem grade transferred!

In my junior year of high school I took a college-level general chemistry course offered by University of Pittsburgh and got a B. In my freshman year of college this year I have scheduled "chemistry for engineers" and the lady at the registrar office wasn't sure if my chem class from Pitt would cover this or not (I assumed it wouldn't). So, I had the transcript sent over to them, and she then forwarded it to the chair of the chemistry dept. at my school. He said it DOES cover chem 101 (general) but not chem 105 (for engineers), as I expected. However, they still accepted the transfer, and put the grade on my grades page online! So now I have this nasty B making my GPA start out at a 3.0 even though the credit does nothing for me.

Can't I opt to have it removed? I mean, it didn't even need transferred in the first place.

Just ask. If it doesn't count for you positively, I don't see why they'd make it count negatively.

First year marks don't mean squat. Grad schools look at letters of recomendation first, and then your marks in the upper level (300+) courses that are the roots of your major.

How much weight do you think your university put on your grade 9 math mark?

I wouldn't worry about it, at the college I attend they don't even weigh transferred credits in my GPA. They pretty much just look at whether I passed or failed.

Christ, for all you know, that might be the best grade you get all year. Engineering classes are heavily bell-curved at my school, so most people get Cs.
