Good deal. Thanks OP.

For $10 2013 will come in handy.

I've used Acronis for years. I'd used Ghost before. Those are the only 2 that I've found reliable.

Also, after trying some other options like xml image and reflect free I'd stick with Acronis.

As always when dealing with partitions, MBRs, SID on HDD and so forth one has to be aware of what they are doing.

Most negative reviews I've found are from noobs who have no clue.

Also, as for partitioning and stuff, I always boot into portable Linux and use gparted. I've not found better option yet.

You're welcome bigi . I'm not into Acronis but I'm glad someone could benefit.

I used Macrium Reflect free on this new build but it is pretty limited. I'll take a closer look at Paragon free as I've used it in the past.

Since it's semi - on topic I also saw 15% off "Image for Windows" at bitsdujour. I've heard great things about IFW. http://www.bitsdujour.com/software/image-for-windows

Are there any "FREE" utilities that will 100% clone an oem laptop drive with win8 that has hidden partitions as well as a recovery partition, in a single and simple procedure? I do not want to copy 7 individual partitions and then have to sort the MBR by doing a repair option in Windows. Heck I'm not even sure Acronis 2013/4 will do this.

Been waiting for this for some months now. Not for me, but a neighbor who just got a new computer and wanted an easy backup solution. For $10 you cannot go wrong.

Macrium Reflect free is able to see all 4 partitions of my GPT UEFI Windows 8 64 bit install. Although this isn't an OEM install one of those partitions is hidden and Macrium is able to see that partition. The program also has the option to either clone or image the entire disk.

Acronis has been good over the years, but we've had some serious issues with the 2013 versions at my workplace. Specifically, windows explorer was taking ages to show folders. After several months of having to uninstall it from many machines, they did finally release a manual hotfix, but overall Acronis is not what it used to be - it's now bloated with many services that most people don't need, but can't turn off. I'm sticking with my older versions as long as I can.

In 4 1. I had previously used the free version for Seagate users. It automatically aligned my partitions, unlike macrium reflect. I was very happy about that. it also down sized one of my partitions, an advanced option.

I use Acronis 2009 or 2013 recovery media only to do my backups. I never install it.

So I grabbed a copy already but should have asked this, are SSD image operations mindless with this software? I'm going to do a SSD -> SSD image and would like to do SSD -> image file for ongoing backup but don't want to think about it to much.

i've used acronis (seagate version) to transfer partitions to SSDs and they've come out aligned, if that's what you want to know.
