just beat vaal in normal. died twice. i had 900hp and maxed out lightning resist.

thankfully i created a portal when i reached the top of the pyramid.
would have sucked balls to fight thru all those levels again to get back to the top of the pryamid.

that said, how do u get a better bow?! my 60dps bow was WEAK vs vaal.
my top dmg attack was burning arrow @ 100dps.

You could find a white bow of the appropriate level with nice sockets and use an Orb of Alch on it.

Or you could watch/ask the trade channel for a bow that meets your specs.

link your bow (CTRL + ALT + left click) to trade chat

and offer 1 Alchemy to anyone that will trade a better bow to you within your level range

wahoo..someone gave a free bow. it only increased my dps from 50 to 60, but it has cold dmg.
love slowed monsters.

I mean, I like the idea of what they are doing, but I feel like they might be hitting the point of diminishing returns. Sell a pet for $1 and a million customers might buy it, but at $90, I'd be surprised if they sell more than a couple total.

I could be wrong though, some game fanatics are willing to spend crazy amounts of money for similar things.

If I stick with the game, I'll probably buy something to support the devs, but $20-$30 is probably the tops.

Anyone here interested in playing together? I have a 34 Witch on the last boss of normal, and am interested in starting a new character, so we could start fresh or continue on. My account name is hakuryu ... I think that is all you need for friend requests right? If so, just mention AT; I'm on for several hours a night 8PM EST til maybe 3, and random times during the day.

Off to play now for a few hours, and try to find a party for the last boss; was rough on a solo witch without minions after the first damage.

This game is pretty decent. I've been playing the Shank Master on HC, just got to the second town. Starting to fully understand how all the gems and stuff interact with each other and the skill tree and stuff. Although bows seem op. I just run around and can kite everything so far pretty much infinitely.

Well, I'm about 42ish on my Witch now, and can't believe this game is free.

The game isn't perfect, but it is the closest to a Diablo-style game I've played, including Diablo 3. It also has some really interesting mechanics, like the way potions are handled, and how loot is handled in groups.

While Blizzard tried to 'fix' many things I loved about Diablo 2, by mostly getting rid of any customization, PoE seems to have finessed issues. For example, all stat and skill points were removed from Diablo 3, so players wouldn't run into the issue of having a messed up character; while PoE allows you to find/trade for items to respec. It isn't a simple full respec, but it does give you the option to remove a bad spent point, and reuse it.

I wouldn't be suprised if Blizzard tries to hire alot of the PoE guys for Diablo 4.

If you haven't tried this yet, I highly recommend it.

The economy cannot be praised enough in this game is my biggest thing.

Hardcore is where it's at for all you pansies btw.

I've been having severe internet issues for weeks, lost 3 30+ chars in HC, but I still have a lvl 40 and a lvl 28 ATM.

The game doesn't even really begin until Cruel difficulty.

I have a group of 6-8 people that play pretty regularly, we only play HC though. if anyone feels like playing just drop me a line.

I'm curious if anybody else is getting a lot of bluescreen hard crashes? It happens more when I turn the graphics to max. Disabling the higher quality shadows seems to help tremendously. I've seen reports of people with creative xi-fi soundcards having quite a lot of crashes. (that is what I have)

I guess I'm just wondering if the game specifically doesn't like my hardware or if it's common.

My roomate has a xi-fi card as well, and was getting the crashes as well. He did something to work around it, not sure what. I'm using onboard audio, and have had 0 crashes.

No issues here. Running it maxed in Window mode. But I am just using the onboard Realtek sound device. Try adjusting your settings and review drivers.

On a side note. Completely blown away with the graphics and gameplay. It's going to be hard to play Torchlight2 anymore after this. Much better gameplay and experience so far.

+1 on willing to try Hardcore mode once I know what I am doing

wished the game did 2500x1440 portrait mode.

stuck playing on my 21.5" in 1900x1080 mode

Yeah the bsods seem to be caused by audio hardware (I think its the XRAM on X-Fi cards). You can force it to do software audio by adding:

--softwareaudio

to the Target (right click the shortcut, and add that after the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile\Client.exe"). So that it looks like this:
