activating AMD's cool & quiet technology

ok, I have an AMD 3500+, using an asus a8v mobo...the instructions for the processor and for the mobo conflicted on how to enable the cool & quiet technology...so I can't tell if it's actually working or not...I honestly don't notice any difference in the noise level from the fan after I enabled it, compared to before...anyone else have experience with this feature?

1) Enable CnQ in the BIOS.
2) Install driver from Asus' website.
3) Go to Control Panel->Power Options and select Minimal Power Management.

CnQ is now active. You can use CPU-Z to monitor the current multiplier. You might also want to look into the RMClock utility; I had some problems with the standard CnQ driver, but RMClock works even better than it.

cool, thanks man...so if i have it overclocked, CnQ won't gimp me during gameplay etc?

I definetly don't have it installed right...when i open the program in windows, i'm always at the same speed and voltage

Try RMClock instead and see if it does a better job.

I disabled Cool and Quiet on my 2-week old DFI Ultra-D setup last night (which has been running flawlessly), just for s**ts and giggles, and it's now running both cooler and quieter. Your mileage might vary, but I'm leaving it off, I think.

did you check the Vcore and CPU multiplier after you enabled it?
Also your board has fan control options in the BIOS, you may need to tweak them to get best results.
