I thought, seeing that this was advertised as a 4Kx2K-capable active cable, that it was capable of 4K60, but now I'm not so sure. I thought that it could replace my bulky Club3D DP-to-HDMI2.0 Active adapter dongles, but maybe I'm wrong? I bought a few of them, guess that I'll find out when they arrive.

These are/would be useful for an ASRock DeskMini unit, IFF they support 4K60.

Edit: From the reviews, these are also useful to drive an HDMI monitor from a DP off of a Radeon card (non-dual-mode DP ports), using Eyefinity.

Specs:

Maximum Digital Resolutions: 4K x 2K @ 30 Hz

Compliant with Displayport 1.2 and High Speed HDMI and HDCP 1.3 specification

Maximum Digital Resolutions up to 4K2K@30fps,four times the resolution of full HD 1080p

Supports compressed such as LPCM and uncompressed audio formats such as DTS-HD Master,Dolby

TrueHD up to 7.1 channel

Plug and Play,no software required

Power from DisplayPort Souce,no extra power adatper needed

(Don't know how I missed those initially.)

I have the Club3D cable from my R9 290X to a 4K TV and it works great at 30fps/60fps. specs for this cable shows only 4K30.

Aww shucks, so much fail with this deal. I'm sorry.

These cables indeed can only do 4K30, NOT 4K60. I plugged one in to my Avera 40" 4K UHD TV, which works at 4K60 with my DeskMini H110W and Kaby Lake G4560 or G4600, with my active Club3D DP-to-HDMI2.0 adapter. With this cable plugged into the DP output instead, I get HDMI, 4K, but only 4K30. Which means, that I would have been just as well off, using a $2 HDMI 4K cable, plugged into the HDMI 1.4 output, and into the TV.

These cables might be useful, though, for those business-esque SFF Dell and HP PCs, that have VGA out and one or two full-sized DP outputs, but no HDMI. Could turn them into a HTPC with one of these cables. That's a valid utility right there.

But for most people, lack of 4K60 capability, is a deal-killer.

Sorry, people.

Edit: Crazy thing is, these cables are THICK. Shielded like you wouldn't believe, apparently. Not like today's "thin" HDMI cables.

Edit: At least now you know, I'm the guinea pig for many of my own deals.
