We'll know more about the guy as this unfolds. It seems likely that he attacked PP for the usual "reasons" that Fundie zealots attack PP in general.

Given the incendiary rhetoric & the religious fervor involved, those who preach it have to know that it'll take a few vulnerable people over the edge. It would suit their purposes entirely if such incidents became so frequent that it would force all such facilities to close.

Damn the Constitution and the SCOTUS- Their marching orders come from a higher authority & there is no sin when on a mission from God.

Pretty much the standard kind of response so far, just as when Dr. Tiller was assassinated. Or Dr. Gunn, or Dr. Britton. They're already calling the asshole a hero.

The guy who killed Britton and his security escort was a minister IIRC, so it isn't only loners and hermits in the woods doing this kind of thing. The people on the sidelines who defend this kind of thing are a mainstay it seems though, unfortunately.

The point is it appears that he's simply insane. I'm all for jumping on a good bandwagon, but you also need to know when it's time to jump off. If the information linked is correct, it's time to start back peddling and tossing out the statistics that show he should have been a religious nut. They might even find a bible in his house, which would of course prove beyond any reasonable doubt that he was a religious fanatic.

And thats precisely the reason we should not be letting more potential fundies and their sympathizer/enablers in this country, we have enough to deal with the home grown ones, no need to import middle east fundies on steroids.

It's not mutually exclusive. A lot of jihadists have mental issues too and are on drugs. When you incite hatred towards PP on Fox News and other media, it's the mentally marginal folks who are going to be the first to resort to violence.

Let us know when you start dealing with the more prevalent home grown terrorist and then you might have a point. Otherwise, just like voting laws that are meant to preserve the integrity of voting by not addressing the real fraud that occurs and instead disenfranchises certain types of voters, we will continue to see the cry for securing our borders and discriminating against certain types of immigrants for what it is, thinly vailed racism and xenophobia.

The conclusion that he "identified as a woman" Is *obviously* intended to paint him as as another kind of crazy than what we're accustomed to in attacks on PP.

That conclusion is completely unjustified from the evidence presented. It's an attempt to distance him from the flock. A simple slip of the pen or transcription error is a helluva lot more likely.

I mean, We've seen this before. How likely is it that he'd do the same sort of thing as other looney tunes for different reasons?

The day after a gunman killed three people and shot nine others at a Colorado Planned Parenthood office, officials tell NBC News a motive remains unclear, but say the suspect talked about politics and abortion.

Robert Lewis Dear, a North Carolina native who was living in a trailer in Colorado, made statements to police Friday at the scene of the Colorado Springs clinic and in interviews that law enforcement sources described as rantings.

In one statement, made after the suspect was taken in for questioning, Dear said "no more baby parts" in reference to Planned Parenthood, according to two law enforcement sources with knowledge of the case.

But the sources stressed that Dear said many things to law enforcement and the extent to which the "baby parts" remark played into any decision to target the Planned Parenthood office was not yet clear. He also mentioned President Barack Obama in statements.

It's inexcusable that they've been silent on this - fearful to offend the extreme right wing nuts in their party who vote in the primaries. Really bizarre that so many, even on these forums, who have stated that if the Muslim Imams don't immediately denounce these acts of violence, then they must be complicit. Pot... kettle...

You're still missing the point. As I tried to point out above - it doesn't matter what religion he belongs to - this is not what true Christians OR true Muslims believe in - they don't believe in violence like this. But one party in the US seems to love to paint all Muslims with a broad brush whenever any Muslim commits an atrocity like this. As soon as you imply that it's someone in the right wing who did this, they get offended. I.e., it went over your head that such rhetoric is offensive and worse than useless - it creates more divisiveness in our nation and in the world. Everyone should be coming together to solve these problems. One group in the U.S. seems hell bent on preventing that.
