Interesting. In Tennessee they have tactical channels. I too like the idea of police channels being open to the public, but not to the point that the bad guys can hear the cops preparing to move in. However, that does solve my earlier complaint; can't blame the cops for leaking the name if someone listening in actually did it.

So far in this thread the cops are batting a thousand and I'm batting about .050.

Hey, I'm not saying it was in any way right or proper. I'm just saying that the people shot seem an awfully odd target for Islamic terrorism, whereas shooting your coworkers is unfortunately attractive to a lot of nuts.

Although DVC makes a good point that bringing help argues for Islamic-based terror, I'd like to point out that they may have thought they could get away with it. The groups of stupid people and murderous people have considerable overlap.
It's highly possible that it was an Islamic cell that was activated. This would explain why he went to the party last year and was fine. Also reports are coming in that his buddy was a citizen of Qatar named Tayyeep Bin Ardogan. I'm sure a citizen of Qatar came here at the request of his buddy Sayed's plea to help settle the score with his workplace that pissed him off, lol. Yeah.

My guess is that this is a Fort Hood type of situation - angry loner who wants to shoot up the workplace and finds justification for it in his faith. The involvement of the female and the extent of the planning suggest that they viewed this as a jihadi act - it certainly looks highly pre-planned - but I doubt we will find formal ties to ISIS or a similar group.

This sounds like the most plausible theory. However, it would still be terrorism. I'm beginning to think the distinction between a "lone wolf" and one directly connected to a Jihadi group is almost like hair splitting. It's the same ideology and we know that ISIS and AQ have called on Muslims in western countries to carry out attacks. The only real distinction might be one of funding and organizational capability. Then again these two managed to kill 14 people anyway.

Why would he have been at the party this year or last. According to public records he hasn't been employees there in years. Public records show he is left his job at the county in 2013 and received a new job working for the state.

Tv, sorry.

Still no motive but the two killed had some sort of relationship. Farook was an employee who left the party upset.

Not sure there is an actual third suspect.

This sounds like workplace violence to me, although their preparation seems to indicate this had been brewing for some time.

He was NOT an employee, he was an EX employee. Public records show he no longer worked there, and hasn't worked there in YEARS.

The press conference said he had worked there for the last five years. And just in case there is some confusion, this was an event that was held at this building not necessarily where they worked. I believe he worked for the state or local gov.

nevermind, Apparently the daily beast where I read he worked for the state, was confusing him with someone with the exact same name

That seems to be the answer you are looking for.

5. Having moved away from earlier statements, police in San Bernardino now believe that there were only two shooters, not three.

The chief just said he was a county employee with a title of environmental specialist with the health dept and has been there for 5 years. The pary was for county employees....

The interesting part is that farook met his wife/girlfriend online, went to Saudi Arabia and then came back with her (is being reported that they are married and had a baby).

Assuming that radical islamic influenced terrorists have a set type of targets and victims leaves one to developing a huge blind spot. Additionally, they left pipe bombs around the city it seems. Cops got rid of at least 4 that I have read about.

Could be, but murders carried out for personal reasons typically don't involve 3 attackers. It's an odd case at first blush because it looks like terrorism on the surface of it but the chosen target makes no sense.
That's what I thought, but when killed they were wearing their armor and armed with the rifles, hand guns and pipe bombs - so much for the theory that they thought they'd get away with it. And I very much agree that it makes little difference (except in gaining intel) whether they are formally in contact with ISIS.

Could be. I'm still not seeing anything that really makes sense to me.

Maybe that IS the pattern - hitting some identifiable group they've never hit before. In this case, county/state government. That way nobody knows who is at risk.

Supposedly Sayed left angrily, then came back and murdered everyone. So perhaps they intended to murder some other people, but he got so angry at his coworkers that on the spur of the moment he decided to go get his kit and kill them first, then they were picked up as they left the house to kill the other people. At this point, who knows?

From Sam Harris, a well known open critic of Islam and religion.

The fact that a mass shooter was a "religious Muslim" doesn't prove jihadism. Muslims can "go postal" too. Wait for the evidence.

The fact, or apparent fact, that he became more religious in the last couple years including wearing more formal Islamic garb is consistent with other terrorists that descended a similar path. I can imagine that his becoming more religious could have been a source of ridicule and/or suspicion from some of his coworkers and if so that could have fed into whatever radicalization he may or may not have been following.

What we may have here is a hybrid terrorist attack that had an additional motivation of workplace issues.

Add some mental issues and we have the perfect trifecta that all sides can claim victory with their finger pointing.

Neighbor Andrea (Annie) Larsen said Farook lived at the home with his wife, mother and small child.

“They sounded really happy. I did notice there were lots of packages being dropped off and he was in the garage working on stuff. But that seemed normal to me. It’s Christmas and people are getting packages dropped off,” she said.

Asked if she now suspected that some of the packages might have been ammunition or other material related to the attack, Larsen said it was a scary thought.

Mail order weapons and ammo? That's scary that someone can assemble an arsenal without ever walking into a gun shop.
