Yeah, 6 years is such a huge contextual timescale. Glad you were able to use a large number of observational points to make statistically significant while controlling for other factors like erosion or micro weather changes.

Since when did erosion account for an entire concrete sidewalk getting submerged by an ocean twice every day when it didn't happen before?

Another pivot but ignore the substance..

Thank you for showing everyone how your conservaterrorist minds work.. Bin Laden attacked us from Afghanistan and Pakistan is harboring him so we need to blame Iraq and invade.

Yes, it is. That we're unwilling to do it as a society, or that we value our ideals of gun ownership over the lives of innocent children is nothing but a choice we make. Sorry.

No, WE do not make that choice. It is way more complex than that and it is something "we" continue to argue about. Regardless, the facts on the ground in this country are such that gun banning would probably cause more violence than it prevents.

You can try to change the hearts and minds of the people who "value the ideal of gun ownership." Good luck with that. But right here and now, if we tried to collect these firearms you'd see about 50 more WACO's and Ruby Ridges. We are already fractured both culutrally and politically in this country. Turning the ideological divide into a violent struggle is not a good idea.

Well, there's going to Saudi Arabia for a mail order jihadi bride, building bombs, stockpiling weapons, and - I mention this only for reasons of completeness - murdering a buttload of infidels.

Minus the bride that description sounds like a redneck from West Va. My only point let's wait until link of radicalism in show before drawing conclusions.

Alright, I'm going to side with Obama and chalk this one up to climate change at this point. Until he tells me otherwise of course. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings and I'm fairly certain that the climate doesn't have feelings so it seems like the safest route. It's always wise to accept the Current Truth.

This is almost totally off point. It has nothing whatsoever to do with hurt feelings. I could care less about anyone's hurt feelings. Feel free to cast blame once we know the facts. That is what my post was about.

I don't know the answer, but I know it is not to grant government more control to "protect us".

There's a lot of grey area here, but that is blindingly obvious.

The government is becoming the only answer to far to many people, that's scary. Government can be the answer, just not our government.

Or do we really think it's government by the people for the people still? Just because we were brainwashed about this all through school doesn't mean we can't jettison the notion when it no longer stands up.

I would start with ending our Wars and abuses abroad (all of them, all of our manipulation in other countries affairs). And FFS, lets start delivering oppurtunity and freedoms at home and abroad, instead of teasing people into scenarios that are solely sculpted to benefit the state and it's captors?

World as it is vs. World as we'd like it to be. Means no easy answers that don't involve some nasty acceptance about the world as it is. Yea, the government lies to a bunch self congratulating (love me some me) idiots to maintain control and power, and it uses horrific tragedies to further that agenda.

Yes, WE make that choice every other November. Your "facts on the ground" make no sense. Harder access guns --> less gun violence --> fewer mass shooting --> less dead children.

Or explain every other country on earth with a functioning and effective government that restricts gun ownership and does not have these problems.

It is a choice. We choose guns over the lives of children. Live with it.

You can try to change the hearts and minds of the people who "value the ideal of gun ownership." Good luck with that.

I know I'm not changing any hearts and minds. But wringing your hands and saying "there's nothing we can do!" is asinine and insulting. It's like Jenny McCarthy wringing her hands as Measles Mumps and Rubella outbreaks run rampant saying "If only there were something we could do!!!"

But right here and now, if we tried to collect these firearms you'd see about 50 more WACO's and Ruby Ridges. We are already fractured both culutrally and politically in this country. Turning the ideological divide into a violent struggle is not a good idea.

Zero evidence for that.

Hey, if we can easily get rid of the 300 million guns in America, it should be a snap to deport the 15 million illegal aliens as well, right?

Neither one is practical or realistically going to happen.

Just say black.

Do you acknowledge then that the USA has unique demographic considerations that don't apply to the rest of the world? Of course, in all fairness we also have much more strict punishments for certain kinds of crime (e.g. drug dealing) which incentivizes the use of deadly force to escape arrest.
