the point is asian actors only get roles for asians while white people just get cast for rolls. it is changing though and we are seeing other ethnicities just getting cast for rolls.

Despite the Jew wing conspiracy theories of the far right there are very few Jews that have Jewish names that star in anything.

Hollywood has a long, long history of this. Most of the earliest stars were Jewish, and many of them changed their names because they sounded too "jewy" by the standards of the day. Hell, it doesn't even matter then or now that Hollywood actually is predominantly Jewish, it is still done as a business decision because your primary audience are WASPS. I guess these things matter to the bottom line? I dunno, but there we are.

people have already posted here modern examples--Jon Stewart is funny. I think that is Irish or Scottish or something. He makes no secret of being Jewish, but his real name is super Jewish. It's a weird industry to be sure, but this is what they do. People of all colors and religions or cultures seem to do well enough by adapting to these practices, even though not all are equally represented, of course. But it only makes sense: the business sells product to its audience, which is primarily WASP. that audience wants to relate. Obviously, Hollywood has become more prominent in other markets, particularly in Asia, so I think things are starting to change and you are now seeing China dictate production and marketing in big budget flicks (like the Marvel movies, which I think now receive the bulk of their take in China). As always, money talks and that is the only thing that will change Hollywood.

I can understand a woman not wanting to have a last name that is synonymous with penis. Men in Hollywood (or anywhere really) with the last name of Muff or Cooter would probably do the same. I knew a guy with the last name of Hymen, told me he'd be changing it stat once his parents have passed on.

I was always kind of impressed the race car driver Dick Trickle never changed his name, maybe Chloe should suck it up.
