What would I do? Add oil and drive.
It's a good car, I have always liked the TSX, some oil burn has never been a big deal to me. Most of the cars I have owned burn oil to varying degrees.

For example, Chrysler allows 1 quart in 2K miles for vehicles with less than 50K miles, and 1 quart in 750 miles for vehicles over 50K miles. Both are considered normal by Chrysler (and unacceptable by me).

Chrysler apparently considers it normal to add 2 or even 3 quarts of oil between oil changes.

Seems like there's no point to changing the oil at the rate you would be replacing it.

Your Acura is great by comparison.

yes Chrysler does that but this is Chrysler we're talking about. Nobody buys them for a reason.

So to update...

Acura had the car for 3 days. Found nothing wrong (despite the warning light) and ended up blaming my "aftermarket" oil filter (which was made by Bosch, iirc.) When I pointed out to them that all but the most recent of my oil changes had been performed by Acura and the problem predates the most recent oil change...they threw their hands in the air and said they couldn't fix it.

I'm.....just done with Honda.

Get in writing them blaming Bosch and then sent that to Bosch. Companies have been known to go after dealers that try and blame them.

I have it in writing in the printouts. I'll def forward it to them, just for the lulz.

Acura also found that 2 control arms had been out of spec from the factory, so I'm planning to go after Acura for my tire sets barely lasting a year and a half each.

I mean ever, since it was new.

Well, the Acura tech admitted to me the arms were out of spec from the factory. But Acura did an alignment. So either the arms went bad after, or the alignment they did was bad. And given how fast I ate through tires...

It's a crapshoot IMO, I had a lowly Escort for 10+years that never needed topping off between changes, my current Chevy 3.5 V6 needs a quart added to make it to the next change interval, no biggie, engine runs fine, changed the plugs @85K, no sign of soot or carbon build up at all..

2011 Honda Insight with 90k miles on it. Burn 1/4th quart every 10k miles. You lost on luck of the draw, I guess, or it's just a TSX thing ... do other TSX owners with that particular engine burn as much oil? Ask around on forums, etc.

Let's see...if it burned a quart every 2K miles or less, you could theoretically just change the filter at the interval. You are constantly refreshing the oil.

Oil consumption: Max. 1.1 qt./600 miles, 0.9 Imp.qt./600 miles (1.0 L per
1000 km)
If your vehicle consumes more than 1.1 qt. (1.0 L, 0.9 Imp.qt.) every
600 miles (1000 km), contact your Toyota dealer.

Tons of reports on it, and a couple TSBs. I guess Honda is generally known for engines burning some oil.

lol yeah, went through 4 sets (15K per set) before they rotated the caliper pins (wrongly assembled) and that fixed that problem.

They just said I'd have to keep doing it. I downshift to brake a bunch, and even so it was burning through the rear pads. Still had the original factory front pads on it.

As long as I don't use and aftermarket filter!

my K24 definitely burns oil. but not nearly as much as yours. from what i've read it seems like it's luck of the draw. i'm at 110K miles and it was about 95% highway 5% city for the first 80k miles of its life, then to about 70 hwy -30 city. which means that the engine would run constantly at 2500 - 3000 RPM on cruise control the majority of the time. I didnt start burning oil until the 70k mark like i said earlier. my maintenance minder pretty much tells me to change every 6500-7000, and i would say i put about a quart in over that period. Sorry you're having problems with your TSX, i personally think they are awesome cars. I kind of wish i got one instead of my accord coupe. actually, i really wish i got the v6.

My old Accord...after the engine swap...would use some oil if I ran high revs. Probably loosing it through the valve stems. I've seen other Hondas with similar behavior...mostly Integra GS-Rs and Civic Si.

The first thing most all dealerships do when a customer complains of excessive oil consumption is to do an oil consumption test. Without doing this, they have no way to know if you are really losing oil or not. Most oil consumption tests will start with a fresh oil change and then have the customer return to the dealership every 1000 miles to have the oil checked and topped off if necessary. Too many people do not know how to check their oil (sorry, but this is true) and if the dealership believed every customer about their oil consumption, the factory would be buying a lot of unnecessary engines. Most excessive oil consumption engines are due to improper break in.

You jumped into a 2 year old thread

I had Acura confirming I was losing oil (not by a leak either) but at < 1 liter per 1000 miles, so they would do nothing.

I countered with the fact that the oil light was not for level, but pressure, and so they had to deal with it. They attempted to, found nothing and chose to blame my "aftermarket" (word they used) Bosch oil filter. That was pretty much the SAME filter they used in the car. I think I had the light again a day or two later and was done. I wanted AWD anyway, so I wandered over to Audi (and BMW, and Lexus...but ultimately Audi.)

I'm thankful for this old Thread, you never know when someone will look at the particular model that is dealing with issues. I found this thread linked to car complaints. So again, grateful.

Anyways, I came across two 2010 TSX's. Both around 13k, the black one I want is 12,985. Both in the 80k mileage. Black is 85,200 and the other TSX 80,100. All my research has lead me to this forum. Other forums too. I called Acura(Corp) and they confirmed that the Black 2010 TSX fell under the oil issue TSB and basically it has two years left vs the mileage, due to the year it was purchased.

So even knowing that its covered, assuming that it has the issue, would you still get a TSX now? 2010 year specifically? Carfax was clean, some gaps but clean history, and I love how it drives. The rear space sort of dampens the experience. I have a 2006 Toyota Avalon and of course the Avalon is bigger. I just have 176k miles, still runs great tho and no oil consumption, at least not my model, but the TSX family looks nice and a change of pace. With a 5yr old in a booster seat vs baby seat, I feel better about the rear, somewhat. Only thing is when/if we go on trips. I'm 6'0 and thee wife is 5'11. Anyways thanks for reading
