I am searching for ad-free email, and I don't mind paying (too much) for a service.

* I want a short, simple domain name on the end of my email address, for example not "address@myrealbox.com"

* I also would like a clean, but well designed user interface. (like I said, I don't mind paying)

Anyone have any experience with juno? I am interested, but I don't know what the user interface looks like.

Other suggestions would be good too.

Thanks.

Why don't you crank up your own domain? Hosting is cheap enough, and you would have a much larger set of names to choose from. That way, you could use any POP3 client you wanted, and switch it around if you get sick of it.

Pardon my ignorance, but is POP3 web-based?

If I would get my own domain name, do I have a list of clients to choose from, such as Squirrel Mail, ect.? And how would I hook that up to my email?

If I get my own domain name, what web-based interfaces do I have to choose from? Or would I have to create my own?

Just register a domain ($8 / yr through Namecheap), get one of those discount hosters at $9 / year... you're own email for $17 / year.

Use Horde if you want web-based email.

It depends on the control panel that your host uses. If they use cPanel you'll have a choice from Squirrelmail or Horde, and you can always install your own if those 2 aren't good enough.

If you send me a PM I can set you up with a free hosting account and guide you through the process.

I have used Horde and Squirrel before... not too impressed with the interface.

I was hoping for a well-designed, clean interface, like hotmail, but without the ads.

What are some other clients to choose from besides Horde and Squirrel?

Are text ads no good? gmail is great, and you can use it with your own domain. It just has text ads, no banner ads. I never even notice the ads.

Personally, I'd rather use a good interface than a completely ad-free interface.

I found a free client named roundcube (roundcube.net) that looks pretty good. Is it pretty easy to install something like that to a server?

Text ads aren't as bad but still not great. I guess I shouldn't be so picky.

How do you use gmail with your own domain name?

It uses PHP/MySQL, so it should be easy to install on just about any cheap web host. Note the version number though - 0.1-beta2

From my experience, it's a very nice webmail client, and it's very easy to install. I have several clients running it.
