ok, i've brought this topic up before but didn't really get the discussion i wanted.
It is like this: Ads suck.. period. Nobody wants to see them. Websites rely on ads to fund their existence. Adblock plus kills ads... really, really well.
As people get more tech savvy and word gets around, more and more people will be on adblock plus. What does this mean for sites like anandtech? hell, what does this mean for most of the internet??? Does it mean that advertising will be limited to things like being embedded in videos like the way youtube and revision3 get across ads?
Is there a way to stop something like adblock plus short of banning firefox users? And if not, then WTH??? I'm trying to think 4 years from now where internet advertising will be. i'm an adblock plus user, and honestly, i can never go back unless forced. Even if chrome or opera are better browsers, i won't switch, because they don't have good ad blocking functionality (i'm talking an up-to-date filter list like easylist).
