Add speakers to dvd player?

This might be a dumb question but:

Has anyone modded a dvd player to include some small internal speakers? I'm thinking along the lines of being able to play mp3 dvd's with my tv off, but without having to set up bookshelf speakers... I'd want to create an all in one unit, or something along those lines...

why not plug in the audio jacks to something?

yeah, that's what I'm thinking... I might do some splicing/soldering inside to leave the jacks available...

Any suggestions on speakers?

I'd assume so... I'm thinking the easiest thing to do is to pull apart some amplified pc speakers...

Or just buy some splitters at Radio Shack...

or buy a cheap ass boombox with MP3 capability. duh.

it can be done (taking apart amplified speakers and putting them into the unit), but you'll have to find room for the power supply, speakers, and the amplifier itself, somehow.
